Last Z: Survival Shooter Resource Guide: Gathering, Steel and Smarter Spending
Updated October 12, 2026
Build Your Economy Around Gathering
Fast progression in Last Z: Survival Shooter depends on reliable income rather than lucky chest rewards. Keep marches gathering during breaks, finish recurring activities, and open stored supplies only when they solve a specific shortage.
Passive production should rarely take priority over HQ prerequisites. Gathering can outperform resource buildings by 10–50x, making march management a much better use of your attention.
Your basic plan should be:
- Dispatch fully loaded gathering marches before extended breaks.
- Complete tasks, bounty missions and truck activities regularly.
- Raise production structures only to prerequisite levels.
- Keep unopened supplies available for targeted spending.
- Budget Steel separately as you approach HQ31–35.
- Establish any planned same-server farm account before Season 2 begins.
Know Which Resources You Need
Different currencies support different parts of progression. Treating them all as interchangeable savings makes shortages harder to manage.
| Resource | Main purpose | Useful income routes |
|---|---|---|
| Food | Troop training and upgrades | Gathering, tasks and events |
| Wood | Construction and research | Gathering, tasks and events |
| Electricity | Research and advanced upgrades | Gathering, tasks and events |
| Steel | Construction beyond level 30 | Orange bounties, Steel nodes and events |
| Diamonds | Premium spending and event purchases | Tasks, events and redeem codes |
| Gold | Everyday shop purchases | Exploration, tasks and events |
For ordinary Food, Wood or Electricity shortages, improve gathering and your daily activity routine first. Steel needs its own collection plan, while Diamonds work best as a reserve for worthwhile purchases.
Make Every Gathering March Count
An overnight deployment to productive nodes can deliver far more than several hours of passive output. Gathering bonuses make that difference even larger.
Before going offline:
- Use every available march for gathering.
- Fill each deployment rather than sending partial loads.
- Favor higher-level nodes for better resource returns.
- Reduce unnecessary travel by choosing nearby targets.
- Gather inside alliance territory when its speed bonus applies.
- Avoid disputed locations where attacks could interrupt collection.
Retrieve the resources when you return, then send marches out again whenever they are not needed elsewhere.
Gathering Hero Bonuses
Giselle improves Wood gathering, Athena provides a broader gathering benefit, and blue heroes offer assorted gathering passives.
Their relevant global effects come from the 4th skill at 4-star. Once active, those effects do not require the hero to accompany the gathering march. Check these bonuses before assuming you need to change every deployment.
Follow a Repeatable Daily Routine
Gathering supplies the foundation, but regular activities add resources, currencies and progression materials that nodes cannot cover alone.
| Activity | What it contributes | Recommended approach |
|---|---|---|
| Overnight gathering | Food, Wood and Electricity | Make this a daily habit |
| Daily Tasks | Multiple resource types and Diamonds | Finish consistently |
| Fuel claims | 100 through Katrina, plus 100 at 08:00 and 100 at 20:00, using Apocalypse time | Collect during the applicable windows |
| Bounty Missions | Reward chests | Complete regularly; store unused rewards |
| Trucks | Variable rewards | Include in your normal routine |
| Tyrant Rallies | Power Cores, alloy, vouchers and damage-tier prizes | Prioritize participation |
| Alliance Gifts | Assorted supplies | Check frequently |
| Radar Tasks | Resources, alloys and cores | Keep up with available tasks |
| Arena Rewards | Gold and fragments | Collect regularly |
Do not build your economy around a single jackpot. A completed daily routine is more dependable than waiting for one exceptional opening.
Read Resource Items Before Opening Them
A box's color does not tell you whether saving it is useful. Its description does.
| Item category | How to handle it |
|---|---|
| Fixed resource pack | Open the quantity needed for your next planned expense; its amount does not scale |
| HQ-dependent resource box | Keep spare boxes for later HQ levels, but use them if a valuable upgrade is blocked |
| Random reward chest | Review its contents and listed chances; opening a batch does not improve individual odds |
There is no universal HQ milestone that makes every stored box worth opening. Keep unnecessary supplies sealed and use the appropriate item when a real shortage appears.
Chest Rewards and Expectations
Some chests can award Diamonds or other scarce materials, but those outcomes should be treated as extras rather than predictable income.
| Chest | Possible contents | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Bounty Mission Chests | Resources at 90%, 100–5,000 Diamonds, orange fragments | The 5,000-Diamond result is rare |
| Honor Chests | Versatile exclusive equipment fragments | Available through Alliance Duel and events |
| Presser Hunt Chests | Speedups and 100–1,000 Diamonds | Diamond rewards are uncommon |
| Hero Battlefield Honor Crate | As many as 50 golden wrenches | Wrench results are exceptionally rare |
| Duel Master Supply Box | 10,000 Diamonds at 0.01%; 3,000 badges at 0.06% | Neither prize is a dependable return |
| Component Chests | Level 1 component boxes at roughly 8% | Obtained through multiple activities |
Bounty chest Diamond rewards are described at approximately 10% for any Diamond result, with the highest payout much less common. Even getting 10,000 Diamonds from 1,000+ chests should be considered fortunate, not standard.
One reported opening of 10,000+ chests produced roughly 20,000 Diamonds, including 10,000 and 5,000 jackpots, around 40 universal orange hero fragments, 6,000+ badges, 44 level 1 component boxes, and several days of construction, training and research speedups. That illustrates the effect of rare results—not a return you should budget around.
Saving for weeks offers no probability advantage. For an equal number of chests, opening everything together or spreading openings across days leaves each chest's odds unchanged.
Prepare Steel Before It Blocks Your HQ
Steel becomes a distinct constraint once construction moves beyond level 30. For HQ31–35, plan its income independently instead of assuming normal gathering will cover everything.
Start With Orange Bounties
Once Steel rewards become available on your server, prioritize orange bounty missions. Inspect the reward preview before using refresh items, especially when refreshing specifically to fund an HQ upgrade.
Add Nodes and Mine Output
Higher-level Steel nodes provide a gathering route when available. The Steel Mine adds ongoing background income, helping supplement bounty rewards rather than replace them.
Check Shops and Active Events
Other potential sources include:
- Hub Shop and other relevant shop offers.
- Furylord rewards.
- Alliance Duel prizes.
- Seasonal and special events.
- Daily or weekly task rewards.
- Any currently available HQ31–35 launch event that lists Steel.
Always verify the current reward panel. Tyrant remains valuable for Power Cores and alliance rewards, but count it toward Steel income only when Steel actually appears among its rewards.
Earn Diamonds Consistently and Spend Selectively
Diamond chests can produce sudden gains, but routine sources are easier to plan around.
- Daily Tasks: Modest, recurring earnings.
- Achievements: Rewards tied to one-time milestones.
- Events: Opportunities such as Alliance Duel, Full Preparedness and special activities.
- Arena standings: Extra rewards are available for the Top 50.
- Redeem codes: Another route to free Diamonds when valid codes are available.
- Stored chests: A supplementary source, not a guaranteed payout schedule.
Keep a reserve for Lucky Discounter, Gacha Go and similarly valuable spending opportunities. Compare relevant VIP shop and Alliance Shop offers when you need shields, teleports, speedups, wrenches, badges or another limiting material.
Avoid using Diamonds simply to remove an inconvenient timer. Buying random chests is also difficult to justify when routine activities already award the same chest type.
Keep Raid Losses Under Control
Warehouse protection covers only part of your stockpile. Before a long absence, check the protected amount and decide what to do with anything exposed.
- Put surplus resources into planned construction, research or troop training.
- Leave unneeded resource packs unopened.
- Activate a shield when you cannot safely spend or defend a large balance.
- Stay within alliance territory to make enemy access less convenient.
- Consider an alliance covered by a Non-Aggression Pact to reduce raid pressure.
Upgrade the Warehouse when repeated overflow, progression requirements or offline safety make the additional protection useful. It should not automatically outrank HQ prerequisites, essential combat structures, gathering improvements or a workable shield plan.
Decide Whether a Farm Account Is Worth Maintaining
A farm is a secondary account dedicated mainly to resource gathering. It can ease late-game shortages for free-to-play players, but every account does not need one.
If you expect to use a farm, create it on your main account's server before Season 2 starts. Develop it further when full gathering marches and regular tasks still fail to cover recurring Food, Wood or Electricity costs.
There is no direct resource-transfer system. Your main obtains the farm's resources by attacking and looting it, so coordinate alliance placement with your alliance leadership before setting up that arrangement.
For an efficient farm:
- Invest in gathering research and march capacity.
- Keep its HQ at the level required for its resource role.
- Develop the buildings necessary to support gathering.
- Begin with a single farm before accepting more account maintenance.
- Limit combat spending to improvements that genuinely protect its usefulness.
Keep Production Buildings at Required Levels
Passive resource structures generally deliver too little to justify diverting builders from progression. Gathering's 10–50x advantage is the main reason to avoid unnecessary production upgrades.
| Building | Output | Upgrade policy |
|---|---|---|
| Farmhouse | Food | Meet prerequisites without overinvesting |
| Residence | Wood | Stop at the required level |
| Wind Turbine | Electricity | Upgrade when progression requires it |
| Smelting Plant | Steel | Avoid optional spending on production levels |
This does not mean ignoring prerequisite buildings. It means reserving builder time and materials for upgrades that unlock meaningful progress rather than chasing weak passive returns.
Quick Tips
- Send fully loaded marches to resource nodes before sleeping.
- Activate gathering heroes' 4-star global benefits; deployment is not necessary for those effects.
- Claim fuel from Katrina and at 08:00 and 20:00 Apocalypse time within the relevant windows.
- Distinguish fixed packs, HQ-scaling boxes and random chests before using them.
- Choose chest batch sizes for convenience, never for better odds.
- Prepare a separate Steel budget for HQ31–35 and verify live rewards.
- Save Diamonds for strong event or shop value instead of impulse purchases.
- Reduce exposed resources before logging out, or use a shield.
- Create a planned same-server farm before Season 2.
- Keep passive production upgrades tied to actual prerequisites.
