Last Z: Survival Shooter — Season 2 Combat Building Upgrade Guide

Updated October 12, 2026

Build Your Winter Economy Before Your Army

In Last Z: Survival Shooter, stronger seasonal troops are only useful if you can still afford the resistance progression behind them. Establish reliable Frostbane access first, then make Command Post your leading combat investment.

That priority is flexible. When a Command Post upgrade demands far more resources than alternatives, buy economical levels for Icy Arsenal or Icy Fort instead. Resume Command Post investment when its price makes sense again. None of these buildings has a universal stopping point.

What Each Combat Building Provides

Winter's three personal combat structures improve fighting strength rather than generating resources or advancing resistance. Bio Lab and Smart Greenhouse handle those supporting jobs.

StructureBonus for each levelStandard F2P limitBonus at that limit
Command PostSeason Troop DMG +1%30Season Troop DMG +30%
Icy ArsenalSeason Troop ATK +3%50Season Troop ATK +150%
Icy FortSeason Troop DEF +3%50Season Troop DEF +150%

Season Pass and Wartime Investment can extend these baseline level limits.

Command Post multiplies seasonal troop damage. Arsenal improves ATK, while Fort improves DEF. Every one of these bonuses works when attacking and when defending: Arsenal is not exclusively an offensive choice, and Fort is not exclusively a defensive one.

Each structure consumes both Frost Cores and Ice Blooms, but the proportions vary. Look at both currencies before deciding which upgrade offers the most practical value.

Bio Lab: Choose the Right Checkpoint

The key preparation question is whether you intend to remain outside Combat Mastery or change paths.

Your planBio Lab requirementReason
Farm level 60 Frostbanes without entering Combat26Supplies the resistance for access to the highest Frostbane level before changing paths
Continue farming level 60 Frostbanes after entering Combat28Replaces the resistance lost by leaving Support

Do not treat Bio Lab 26 as sufficient preparation for both situations. Moving into Combat removes the Support resistance advantage, making level 28 the checkpoint for retaining that farming access.

For F2P and low-spend accounts, protect the resources needed for the appropriate checkpoint before committing heavily to combat stats. A stronger army does not compensate for stalled seasonal access.

Smart Greenhouses: Upgrade for Payback, Not a Target

Construct the 4 standard Smart Greenhouses to produce Ice Blooms. Wartime Investment allows a fifth.

Many players settle around levels 25–26 once production can fund their Bio Lab plans. That range is a typical stopping area, not a requirement.

Use a deadline-based spending test:

  • For a modest Ice Bloom deficit, let existing production accumulate.
  • Improve a Greenhouse only when the additional output can recover its upgrade cost before the planned Bio Lab level is needed.
  • Apply that same test below level 25 and beyond level 26.
  • Once output supports the intended Bio Lab progression, direct spare seasonal materials toward combat improvements.

An upgrade that increases income can still be the wrong purchase if its upfront cost delays the resistance level you need now.

How to Allocate Combat Resources

Start with Command Post after your resistance needs are covered. Its damage bonus makes it the preferred combat route, but it should not monopolize your budget regardless of price.

Compare the next available level for all three structures, rather than trying to keep their levels matched. Cheaper ATK or DEF gains may be a better immediate purchase than forcing a costly damage upgrade.

Choose between Arsenal and Fort according to resource efficiency, not simply whether your next action is an attack or a defense. Their attributes contribute in either role.

When Resistance Should Keep Priority

Combat spending should normally wait when Bio Lab is the obstacle to better seasonal farming.

  • Below Bio Lab 26: If level 60 Frostbanes are your objective before Combat, finish that resistance milestone first.
  • Short on Ice Blooms: Wait for existing production when the gap is small. Fund more production only if it passes the payback test.
  • Short on Frost Cores: Avoid diverting the cores required for the next resistance increase; preserve the value of Frostbane farming and alliance targets.
  • No immediate PvP need: Favor progression over combat bonuses that will sit unused.

The goal is to avoid winning a little more fighting power today at the expense of slower progress throughout Winter.

When a Fight Justifies Faster Upgrades

City battles, Glory War, coordinated rallies, and other seasonal PvP opportunities make combat stats more valuable because your alliance can use them immediately.

A stronger push is usually appropriate when:

  • Your Bio Lab level suits the Mastery route you have chosen.
  • Existing Ice Bloom output supports the Bio Lab upgrades you intend to make.
  • An actual alliance battle is approaching.
  • The available combat levels offer sensible value for both seasonal currencies.

There is no mandatory Greenhouse level for this handoff. Production sufficiency matters more than matching another account's building levels.

An imminent city battle or Glory War can justify postponing a later Bio Lab upgrade. If your alliance needs fighting strength for an active engagement, that immediate objective can take precedence over a routine farming plan. Otherwise, advance combat structures gradually while protecting resistance progress.

What Survives the End of Winter?

Seasonal structures do not become permanent account upgrades. Command Post, Icy Arsenal, Icy Fort, Smart Greenhouses, and the remaining seasonal buildings are removed when Winter concludes.

Spend remaining seasonal currencies toward a useful current-season objective before the deadline. Saving them for the following season provides no benefit.

Spending Traps to Avoid

  • Buying ATK while resistance is stalled: Arsenal cannot solve a Bio Lab bottleneck.
  • Skipping Fort entirely: Weak DEF can hurt during city engagements and rallies.
  • Matching every building's level: Balanced-looking levels are not an efficiency strategy.
  • Forcing Command Post at any price: An expensive upgrade can crowd out several economical alternatives.
  • Changing Mastery paths prematurely: Prepare Bio Lab 28 if you want uninterrupted level 60 Frostbane farming after entering Combat.
  • Expanding production without checking the deadline: More eventual income is not helpful if the upgrade delays a critical Bio Lab purchase.

Quick Tips

  • Secure Bio Lab 26 for pre-Combat access to level 60 Frostbanes; prepare level 28 before changing to Combat.
  • Lead combat spending with Command Post, but switch temporarily to cheaper Arsenal or Fort improvements when prices diverge sharply.
  • Review Frost Core and Ice Bloom requirements together before every purchase.
  • Build the 4 standard Greenhouses, then judge upgrades by whether they repay their cost in time.
  • Time major combat investment around battles where the bonuses will matter immediately.
  • Use Winter currencies before they expire; Mastery progression is what carries forward.
