Mastering Steel Acquisition in Last Z: Survival Shooter

Updated October 12, 2026

Your Guide to Steel in Last Z: Survival Shooter

Steel is a vital late-game material in Last Z, becoming a primary bottleneck for advancement once you progress beyond Headquarters level 30. For players new to this resource, understanding its role is key: it's not part of early game progression but becomes indispensable for higher-level structure improvements.

It's easy to mix up the steel resource with the Steel Factory faction building. The Steel Factory provides hero stat enhancements, while the raw steel material is consumed for improving structures past level 30.

Steel's Emergence in Gameplay

Players often find steel suddenly relevant. Its importance truly begins when the HQ31-35 phase activates on your server, pushing your account beyond the typical HQ30 resource economy.

The HQ30+ Milestone

Steel becomes a requirement and a reward after you achieve HQ30 and your game server introduces the HQ31-35 content. This marks the point when steel is integrated into construction costs and available in reward pools. Refer to upgrade guides to pinpoint where steel expenditures begin.

Steel Age Research Path

The "Steel Age" is a distinct research branch found within the Lab. Certain nodes within this tree enhance steel output, while others grant various different benefits. Importantly, none of the research options in this tree consume steel as a material.

Optimal Steel Acquisition Methods (Ranked)

Not all steel collection methods offer equal value. High-tier bounty quests and server-wide activities can provide substantial quantities, while facilities like the Steel Mine, resource nodes, the Hub Shop, Furylord battles, and consistent rewards contribute to daily accumulation.

  • High-tier bounty missions — These offer significant steel rewards in the later stages of the game.
  • Steel Mine and world map nodes — Provide a consistent, daily stream of this crucial material once accessible.
  • Hub Shop and seasonal event rewards — Offer supplementary sources that aid overall progress.
  • Furylord encounters — Achieving the daily attack milestones (1, 2, or 4 attacks) can yield substantial amounts. For example, on Server 403, these milestones provide 30,000, 60,000, and 120,000 Steel respectively, totaling 210,000 if all three are claimed.
  • HQ31-35 launch events — Expect temporary boosts during the introduction of this content phase on your server.

Tyrant Rewards and Steel

Tyrant events can also be a source of steel. For instance, the September 2026 personal reward menu on Server 403 indicated the following steel amounts for personal damage tiers: 15,000 Steel for 8.3 billion to 10.4 billion damage, 20,000 for 10.4 billion to 12.5 billion, and 25,000 for 12.5 billion and above. These are individual damage thresholds; large alliance damage totals do not automatically qualify every participant. Ensure "Engage Offline" is active in the Event Center if you cannot participate live, allowing your forces to join rallies automatically.

The Tyrant event lasts for 15 minutes. Your individual damage determines your personal steel tier, while total alliance damage influences alliance-wide prizes. Alliance leaders (R4/R5 roles) can schedule the event's start time.

Recognize steel by its unique I-beam icon. The circular silver resource icon seen in lower Tyrant tiers represents a different commodity.

Steel Factory vs. Steel Resource: A Clarification

This is a frequent point of confusion. The Steel Factory is a faction-specific structure associated with Guard of Order benefits, whereas steel resource is a late-game commodity for progression expenses.

The Steel Factory is a Guard of Order faction building that unlocks at HQ14. It boosts Guard of Order hero offensive capabilities, defensive strength, and troop capacity through its improvements. It does not generate steel resources. Upgrading this structure to level 20 will unlock relevant Guard of Order Hall of Honor buffs.

Common Misconceptions Regarding Steel

  • Relying on alliance damage for personal Tyrant steel — Base your expectations on the personal damage tier you can realistically achieve, not the combined alliance damage.
  • Neglecting high-tier bounty tasks — These scale much better for steel income than lower-tier tasks.
  • Failing to gather from steel nodes — This is a consistent, free daily source that accumulates significantly over time.
  • Confusing the Steel Factory with steel material — Remember, the building is for faction buffs, not for producing the resource.

Quick Tips

  • Steel becomes relevant after HQ30 and the HQ31-35 update on your server.
  • Key sources for steel include orange bounties, Steel Mine, resource nodes, Hub Shop, Furylord, and special launch events.
  • The Steel Factory is a faction building, not a source of steel material.
  • Steel is not required for HQ1-30 upgrades.
  • "Steel Age" research does not consume steel.
  • Prioritize spending steel on your next building upgrade above level 30; no steel needs to be reserved for Steel Age research.
