Last Z: Survival Shooter Beginner Guide: Build Faster and Spend Smarter
Updated October 12, 2026
Progress in Last Z: Survival Shooter depends less on keeping every queue running than on choosing upgrades that unlock something valuable. A focused base, a reliable alliance, and a properly equipped squad will take you further than scattered spending.
This Gamevoyant guide organizes your early priorities around the decisions that have the biggest effect on long-term growth.
Find Your Biggest Progress Blocker
| Your problem | Best next move |
|---|---|
| Base development has stalled | Check the next HQ requirements and begin the Laboratory upgrade once HQ construction ends. |
| Alliance rewards feel weak | Compare active groups by technology, event turnout, and Alliance Duel results. |
| Your formation struggles in combat | Invest in a single faction and direct fragments and orange equipment toward your primary 5 heroes. |
| Daily rewards are slipping away | Finish trucks, Arena, bounties, radar assignments, and daily objectives before optional tasks. |
| Resources vanish without meaningful progress | Pause low-value construction and reserve materials and speedups for milestones and scoring windows. |
Build Around Your Headquarters
Headquarters determines the ceiling for your other buildings. It also gates troop development, research, and additional features, while higher HQ levels can improve your chances of joining stronger alliances.
After each HQ upgrade, start work on the Laboratory. Every subsequent HQ upgrade requires it, so delaying the lab can create another bottleneck immediately.
Construction priorities
| Building | Recommended approach |
|---|---|
| Headquarters | Make this your main construction objective. |
| Laboratory | Upgrade immediately after HQ; it remains part of the HQ progression route. |
| Rider Camp, Assaulter Camp, Shooter Camp | Follow whichever camp the next HQ level requires. |
| Alliance Center | Raise it when it becomes an HQ prerequisite. |
| City Walls | Upgrade as required for Headquarters. |
| Hospital | Treat troop survival as a useful secondary investment. |
| Military Center | Develop it when greater troop capacity is needed. |
| Rally Square | Generally stop at level 20; level 25 adds only 1 person. |
Farmhouse, Residence, Wind Turbine, and Smelting Plant offer weak returns compared with core progression. Warehouse should also sit below your key upgrades, while Training Ground can wait unless a requirement makes it necessary.
The resource-production comparison is especially important: 4 max-level resource buildings generate under 2 million resources per day, against an upgrade expense of 16+ million. Recovering that investment takes 8+ days before it starts producing a net benefit.
An empty construction queue is therefore not automatically a mistake. If you are saving for HQ 28, spending those materials on a Farmhouse simply to occupy a builder can push the important upgrade further away.
Choose an Alliance for Its Actual Benefits
A strong alliance improves more than your protection. Technology can accelerate construction and research or strengthen troops, while member spending can generate alliance gifts. Organized groups also make rallies, Enemy Buster, and other events easier to handle.
Before joining, evaluate these areas:
- Visible participation: Look for frequent help requests being answered, gifts arriving, and members attending events. Membership count alone says little.
- Permanent technology: Compare research and building bonuses. Skillful Craftsman is particularly relevant for construction speed.
- Duel organization: Ask how members coordinate scoring and review recent performance. A Diamond league weekly win awards 6 versatile fragments and 1,500 badges.
- Event timing: Check whether scheduled group activities fit your availability.
- Leadership and security: Understand how plans are communicated and which non-aggression pact, or NAP, rules apply.
Server ranking should not outweigh poor judgment. An inactive group, weak technology, repeated Duel losses, or unnecessary disputes with stronger opponents are all reasons to consider moving. Leaving before a damaging war is often better than waiting for losses to force the decision.
Commit to a Faction and a Core Formation
Splitting scarce fragments and equipment among every new hero weakens your main formation. Choose a faction early and concentrate your combat investment there; changing direction later is expensive.
| Faction | Counters | Troop focus |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Rose | Guard of Order | Assaulter |
| Guard of Order | Wings of Dawn | Rider |
| Wings of Dawn | Blood Rose | Shooter |
Wings of Dawn is a useful beginner choice because Blood Rose heroes appear earlier and attract many new players. Against similarly developed Blood Rose formations, that counter relationship can give Wings of Dawn an advantage.
Faction consistency also preserves bonuses, including 10% HP and attack buffs, rather than sacrificing them through an unfocused lineup.
Equip your primary 5 first
Your active formation contains 5 heroes. Make those heroes the destination for your main fragment and orange-equipment spending.
- Keep equipment investment in the 6th hero minimal.
- Avoid distributing orange pieces across reserve characters.
- Use weekly Merit Shop orange-equipment purchases to outfit the main 5 before buying additional pieces for broader development.
- Prioritize your chosen troop type when advancing to T9 or T10.
- In Elite Troops research, follow the same faction-to-troop pairing shown above.
For Blood Rose, Selena's Assaulter attack boost is another reason to keep troop selection aligned with the formation.
Use a 4-star ceiling for support-oriented heroes
Heroes whose skills improve construction, training, exploration EXP, or gathering should generally remain at 4 stars. Reserve investment beyond that point for heroes built entirely around combat stats such as attack, defense, and HP.
Selena is a combat-focused example worth taking to 5 stars and beyond. Sophia has a construction-speed skill, making 4 stars the recommended stopping point. Reserve heroes should likewise avoid taking resources away from your central squad.
Establish a Daily Reward Routine
Before chasing optional activities, clear the repeatable tasks that supply steady development materials.
| Activity | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Trucks | Possible rewards include component chests, orange-equipment fragments, and other rare items. |
| Arena | Spend all 5 daily attempts; a top-50 position offers 2 versatile hero fragments. |
| Alliance help | Supports shared development while accumulating points. |
| Daily missions | Completing the full set awards a versatile orange fragment. |
| Bounty missions | Supply hero EXP, modification blueprints, and skill books; chest rewards can reach 5,000 diamonds. |
| Radar tasks | Provide resources, alloys, power cores, and fragments. |
Aim to finish at least 3 Full Preparedness events each day and reach 18 points. Available rewards include versatile hero fragments, versatile orange fragments, level 1 random component chests, and skill books.
Whenever possible, make the same spending count toward both Full Preparedness and the relevant Alliance Duel objective. Checking in at least twice daily can make it easier to stay on top of the routine.
Keep Rotating Events on Your Calendar
Daily tasks form the foundation, but rotating activities add valuable specialist materials.
| Event | Rewards to pursue |
|---|---|
| Survival Saga | Versatile orange fragments |
| Mines Melee | Daily gems |
| Tyrant | Resources and power cores, including 500 free power cores per week |
| Zombie Siege | Golden wrenches and modification blueprints |
| Danger Lurks | Badges and versatile orange fragments |
| Furylord | Diamonds and refugee tickets |
Participate consistently when these events are available. Modest rewards collected repeatedly can support far more upgrades than occasional bursts of activity.
Time Spending Around Alliance Duel
Using an item immediately may advance an upgrade, but waiting for its scoring window can also earn event rewards. Stockpile speedups and development items with the weekly schedule in mind.
| Timing | Spending focus |
|---|---|
| Day 1: Modded Vehicle Boost | Saved wrenches |
| Tuesday | Construction speedups |
| Day 3: Age of Science, Wednesday | Badge-consuming research and research speedups |
| Friday | Training speedups |
| Appropriate hero-scoring window | Batch star increases instead of spreading them through the week |
For example, combine planned 1-to-2-star and 2-to-3-star upgrades into the relevant scoring day rather than completing each as soon as fragments become available.
Research that spends badges should wait for Day 3, Age of Science. Badge-free options such as New Home, Shelter Building, and Elite Troops can be handled on any day.
Put Alliance Recognition ahead of other badge research
Alliance Recognition should receive badge investment before competing badge-based branches. Work toward opening all 9 reward chests, covering chests 1–9, and obtaining doubled daily rewards such as badges, alloys, and fragments. Those recurring returns strengthen later progression.
Keep your wider savings goals visible as well:
- The next Headquarters level and its prerequisites.
- Laboratory upgrades needed along that route.
- Alliance Center requirements when they appear.
- Laboratory level 30 for the T10 troop unlock.
Improve March Planning Without Wasting Resources
For a distant dig, an allied HQ near the destination may offer a better route than a direct march.
- Find a suitable allied HQ within alliance territory near the dig.
- Ensure your troops are at home.
- Select the allied HQ and issue Reinforce.
- After arrival, move the troops the remaining distance to the dig.
Compare this route with a direct march before committing; the detour is only useful when it improves the trip.
Check Auto Return before dispatching troops, too. Turn it on when they should return home after completing the current order. Leave it disabled when your next action depends on keeping them in the field.
Quick Tips
- Begin the Laboratory upgrade after each completed HQ level.
- Save for prerequisites instead of filling builder queues with low-impact projects.
- Keep Rally Square at level 20 unless you have a specific reason to go further.
- Judge alliances by activity, technology, planning, and safety—not rank alone.
- Build around one faction and equip your core 5 before reserves.
- Stop support-oriented heroes at 4 stars; prioritize combat specialists for further investment.
- Complete all 5 Arena attempts and pursue top 50 for 2 versatile hero fragments.
- Target 3 or more daily Full Preparedness completions and 18 points.
- Prioritize Alliance Recognition before other badge research, and spend research badges on Day 3.
- Match construction, research, and training speedups to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday respectively.
- Collect Tyrant's 500 free weekly power cores and keep up with rotating events.
- Review Auto Return and march routes before sending troops.
