Azur Promilia: Comprehensive Guide to Systems, Combat, and Exploration

Updated October 12, 2026

Welcome, new traveler, to the enchanting world of Azur Promilia! This guide will walk you through the essential systems, combat strategies, and exploration mechanics to help you thrive in your adventures and connect deeply with your Kibo companions.

Core Game Systems

Understanding the fundamental mechanics is crucial for a smooth journey. Here's a breakdown of how key systems operate.

Character and Kibo Progression

Your characters and Kibo grow stronger through several interconnected systems:

  • Portable Crafting: Create basic necessities on the go to aid your exploration.
  • Starbless & Ascension: Collect Starbless during your adventures to enhance character attributes and skills. Once all Starbless are obtained, characters can Ascend, boosting their power and raising their maximum level.
  • Kibo Hut: This is your central hub for managing your Kibo. Here, you can view their stats and train them.
  • Kibo Manipulation:
    • Adjusting Position: Press and hold a Kibo to pick it up and reposition it within the hut.
    • Moving & Swapping: Drag a held Kibo to an empty slot to move it, or over another Kibo to swap their places.
    • Page Navigation: While holding a Kibo, move it towards a page arrow to switch to a different Kibo storage page.
  • Kibo Bonds & Attributes: Kibo gain Rapport when fighting alongside you, increasing their Bond Level. Higher Bond Levels allow Kibo to inherit a greater percentage of their bearer's stats.
  • Starbringer Codex: All Kibo you encounter are cataloged here. Review their information and undertake unique investigation quests. Completing these quests grants rewards and raises your investigation level, which in turn provides attribute bonuses.
  • Factor Mutation: After engaging in activities that consume Primordial Flow, Kibo in your party might experience Factor Mutation. If their Factors aren't full, a new one is added. If full, an existing Factor is randomly replaced. You can choose to accept the new Factor or retain the old one, but no further mutations will occur until a decision is made for that Kibo.
  • Star Travelogue: This guide to the world's lore and survival tips helps you better understand Azur Promilia. Use the track button for easy navigation through its entries.

Daily Activities and Recovery

  • Commissions: Visit commission centers in major towns to accept tasks. Completing these provides valuable rewards for your characters and Kibo.
  • Quests: Engage with main story quests and various side quests that appear throughout your adventure.
  • Quest Tracking: Activate quest tracking to display a marker, guiding you to the next objective location.
  • Satiety System: Characters recover HP outside of combat when their Satiety is sufficient. Low Satiety slows recovery, so keep your team fed. Different dishes offer varied effects beyond just Satiety.
  • Kibo Puzzle Grid: Access this grid by holding a Kibo skill button. Assign Kibo to slots, then tap matching Kibo to swiftly solve puzzles.

Combat Fundamentals

Mastering combat is essential for overcoming Azur Promilia's challenges.

Basic Controls & Movement

  • Movement: Use [W], [A], [S], [D] to move your character.
  • Jump: Press [Spacebar] to jump, and press it again for a double jump.
  • Sprint: Hold [L-SHIFT] while moving to sprint.
  • Dodge: Press [L-SHIFT] to dodge. A perfectly timed dodge triggers the Perfect Dodge state.
  • Ultimate Counter: During a Perfect Dodge, use [Left Mouse Button] to perform a powerful Ultimate Counter.
  • Attack: Use [Left Mouse Button] for basic attacks. Striking an enemy outside of combat initiates an engagement. Hold [Left Mouse Button] for a Heavy Attack.
  • Target Lock: Use the Middle Mouse Button to lock onto an enemy. Press again to release. Scroll the mouse wheel while locked on to switch targets or target specific parts.

Character Abilities

  • Starcall Art: Each character possesses a unique Starcall Art, activated by pressing [E].
  • Stardecree Art: Attack, perform Perfect Dodges, or simply wait to build Stardecree charge. Once full, unleash a powerful Stardecree Art with [R].
  • Character Switching: In a multi-character team, swap between characters using [1], [2], or [3].

Starlink Arts

These special abilities trigger when switching characters:

  • Entry-type: Automatically activates when a new lead character enters the field.
  • Stay-type: If the current lead character has a Stay-type Starlink Art ready, switching to another character will cause the previous character to remain briefly and cast their Stay-type ability.
  • Combined: If both characters have their respective Starlink Arts ready (Entry for the incoming, Stay for the outgoing), switching will trigger both simultaneously.

Advanced Combat Mechanics

  • Counterable State & Counter Art: Watch for a yellow ring around enemies, indicating they are preparing a powerful skill. Press the counter button at the right moment to perform a Counter Art, interrupting their attack and leaving them vulnerable.
  • Sigils: Some character skills generate Sigils for the whole team, displayed above HP. Sigils come in elemental types, stacking up to five, each offering different buffs and effects. Some Kibo can also grant Sigils, allowing for strategic synergy with character attacks. Certain skills can consume Sigils to deal Overlimit damage and gain additional effects.
  • Stance Gauge & Stance Break: Powerful enemies feature a Stance gauge. Dealing damage reduces it. When the gauge is broken, the enemy enters Stance Break, becoming incapacitated and taking 200% increased damage.
  • Joint Strike: Triggering a Joint Strike at the end of a combo directly empties an enemy's Stance gauge, causing them to enter the Stance Break state, unable to attack, and taking 200% damage.
  • Elemental Types: Characters and Kibo have elemental types. Light and Dark counter each other, while Null is not countered. Elemental advantage increases damage (shown with a boost marker), while disadvantage (gray damage) reduces it. For enemies with multiple elements, advantages are calculated cumulatively.
  • Enemy Status: A special marker indicates enemies significantly stronger than your character. It's often wise to avoid such encounters until you've leveled up.
  • Enraged State: Powerful enemies may enter an Enraged state, becoming invincible and unable to be Stance Broken. They also unleash more potent skills during this time, so be cautious.
  • Vulnerable Parts: Some enemies have multiple parts with varying defenses. Aim for more vulnerable sections to deal greater damage.
