JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Modes and Systems Guide
Updated October 12, 2026
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit separates its challenges into several systems with different lineup limits, reward schedules, and progression requirements. This guide explains the available rules so you can plan your teams, manage daily claims, and understand which results affect rankings. For challenges without a clear mode name, the sections below identify them by their mechanics.
Protecting Giorno from Shadow Sabbath
In Giorno VS Shadow Sabbath, you bring as many as five characters to help Giorno Giovanna complete Polpo’s trial. Giorno cannot receive buffs or debuffs, so your approach needs to account for that restriction.
How the Encounter Works
- Watch for Giorno’s lighter to go out and then be reignited.
- Shadow Sabbath appears and moves toward Giorno.
- Apply debuffs or crowd control to interfere with its approach. Obstruction effects cannot stop it.
- Prevent it from reaching Giorno, because it attacks him immediately on arrival.
Koichi Hirose becomes available after a fixed delay. Press his portrait to use Reverb Act 3’s gravity field, which suppresses Shadow Sabbath for 5 seconds. Your allies immediately focus Shadow Sabbath during that window.
Koichi’s assistance has a cooldown and cannot activate while Shadow Sabbath is absent.
Objectives and Payouts
Check the displayed objective for each stage: victory requirements vary. Failure occurs if your entire lineup falls, Shadow Sabbath defeats Giorno, or enemies remain when the timer expires.
Clearing stages grants challenge rewards. A separate progress-based payout arrives automatically when you first enter this mode each day.
Wave Challenges and Two-Team Stages
These challenge formats use different progression rules. Do not assume that their deployment or reward restrictions are interchangeable.
The 15-Wave Format
Bring up to five characters and fight through 15 consecutive waves. Defeated enemies provide Energy, which raises your Energy Level.
- Each Energy Level increase presents three skill cards; select one.
- The selected card affects every ally.
- Defeating an elite immediately grants another card selection.
- A full clear requires eliminating the enemies before time expires.
- Rewards depend on the number of waves defeated.
Every difficulty offers its own first-clear payout and daily claim. First-clear rewards are permanent one-time claims, while daily rewards become available once each day.
Higher difficulties require both sufficient quest level and completion of the preceding difficulty. Attempts are unlimited, letting you test different teams without an attempt restriction.
Two-Team Challenges and Stars
Another format requires two teams, with a combatant limit governing deployment. The teams fight in separate rounds, and either team losing ends the challenge. Both must win to secure a clear.
Stages award Stars for winning and satisfying additional conditions. After you obtain three Stars across every stage of a difficulty and meet the quest-level requirement, the next difficulty becomes available through an overnight update.
| Reward category | Claim rule |
|---|---|
| Stage completion | One claim for each stage |
| Star milestones | One claim per reward at that difficulty |
| Daily progress | Delivered by mail according to stage and difficulty progress |
Borrowing Co-op Characters
Co-op requests let you borrow a character from a friend or guildmate for supported challenge stages.
- The daily hiring allowance is 3 characters.
- A borrowed character can challenge only one stage.
- Each stage permits only 1 borrowed character.
- Unused borrowed characters are discarded without counting against the daily allowance.
A borrowed character uses the cultivation, dramatic scenes, badges, and spirit recorded when the request is accepted. Its attributes may receive a small adjustment based on your allies’ cultivation.
Extreme Trial: Speed and Roster Planning
Solo Challenges
Solo Extreme Trial sends continuous enemy waves at your lineup. A successful run receives a rating based on completion time, with better ratings unlocking rarer dramatic scenes.
You may retry without an attempt limit, but collecting rewards uses a separate allowance. Free reward attempts refresh daily; the Monthly Pass provides additional reward attempts.
Three-Player Challenges
Team Extreme Trial requires 3 players. Battles span multiple rounds, and each player can field up to 3 characters in a round. Once a character has participated, it cannot return in a later round of that battle.
Plan your roster across the entire encounter rather than spending every useful option immediately.
- Each player receives daily free reward attempts.
- After obtaining a rating, spend a reward attempt or eligible extra items to collect loot.
- Ratings are not retained between matches.
- Better ratings improve the rewards, with SSS offering the best payout.
World Boss Progression and Rankings
World Boss begins within your server and later expands to a cross-server phase.
Unlocking Bosses
During the single-server phase, boss availability depends on server age. Advancing to the next boss requires an SSS rating against the current one and the appropriate server-opening-day requirement.
Bosses have multiple difficulties, with stronger opponents at higher settings. Cross-server access requires SSS results in every boss challenge on Extreme difficulty, alongside the relevant server-age requirement.
Cross-Server Rules
- Boss rotation follows a fixed weekly schedule covering Monday through Sunday.
- Character levels and ability levels are standardized to 100.
- Regional rankings combine results across servers.
Damage Rewards and Settlement
| System | Rule |
|---|---|
| Damage ratings | B, A, S, SS, and SSS |
| Rating reward eligibility | Meet the damage requirement during one challenge |
| Ranking basis | Daily damage against the boss |
| Settlement window | 3:45–4:00 each day |
| Ranking payout | 4:00 daily |
You cannot start a challenge during settlement. The leaderboard records only damage against your server’s newest unlocked boss, so attacking an older boss will not qualify you for that leaderboard.
Arena: Tickets, Tiers, and Tiebreakers
Arena uses tickets to challenge other players. You can obtain up to 5 Arena Tickets daily, plus purchase another 5.
Each season runs for 2 weeks. Reaching a new tier for the first time that season earns a breakthrough reward. Daily payouts arrive at 21:00, and season-end rewards also scale with tier.
At the season’s end, Arena enters cross-server play with increased rewards. The season close also resets everyone to Novice.
Arena Point Requirements
| Tier | Points |
|---|---|
| Apex | 2500+ |
| Master I | 2300–2499 |
| Master II | 2250–2299 |
| Master III | 2200–2249 |
| Master IV | 2150–2199 |
| Master V | 2100–2149 |
| Elite I | 2050–2099 |
| Elite II | 1950–2049 |
| Elite III | 1850–1949 |
| Elite IV | 1750–1849 |
| Veteran I | 1650–1749 |
| Veteran II | 1500–1649 |
| Veteran III | 1350–1499 |
| Apprentice I | 1200–1349 |
| Apprentice II | 1100–1199 |
| Novice | 1000–1099 |
How Arena Decides a Winner
- Defeat the opposing lineup before the timer ends to win outright.
- If time expires with both sides still standing, compare surviving unit counts.
- Equal survivor counts are resolved by total damage dealt.
- If damage is also equal, the defender wins.
Ranked Matches: Weekly Cycles and Lineup Requirements
Ranked matches become available on a region’s 9th day. Each cycle lasts 7 days, and the following cycle starts immediately afterward.
| Cycle period | Available actions |
|---|---|
| Day 1: preparation | Modify your defensive lineup |
| Days 2–7: challenges | Modify attack and defense lineups; challenge opponents |
Attempts and Team Setup
You begin each cycle with 2 free attempts. During the challenge period, another two refresh at 4:00 daily, unless you have reached the attempt cap.
Facing a particular opponent for the first time costs one attempt. Further matches against that same opponent are free.
Below Diamond, configure a single lineup for attacking and defending. Starting at Diamond, two lineups are required for each role.
Scoring and Tier Movement
Winning lineups earn victory points, plus survival points determined by how many characters remain alive. Each opponent has a scoring ceiling; repeated wins stop adding points once you reach it.
| Standing zone | End-of-season result |
|---|---|
| Swift Promotion Zone | Advance multiple tiers |
| Promotion Zone | Advance one tier |
| Preservation Zone | Retain your tier |
| Relegation Zone | Fall one tier |
During challenge days, tier-based daily rewards arrive by mail at 4:00. Season rewards are mailed when the season finishes.
Objective-Based Challenge Events
This event format introduces one stage per day over its first 5 days. All stages are accessible on Days 6 and 7.
Building a Score
Each stage has its own objectives, and your result depends on how many you complete. Before fighting, choose 2 buffs suited to those goals.
Characters and abilities are set to level 100, but other progression statistics remain unchanged. You can retry stages freely; only the best result for each stage contributes to ranking.
Leaderboards and Rewards
- Every stage maintains a separate leaderboard.
- Your placement on each leaderboard converts into ranking points.
- Combined ranking points determine your overall global placement.
- Damage milestones offer one-time rewards for each threshold reached.
- Global placement rewards arrive by mail after the event concludes.
Entry closes 10 minutes before daily settlement. Battles already underway can still produce valid scores, but a battle left unfinished through the following day’s settlement has its score invalidated.
Guild Membership and Daily Progress
Joining or creating a guild gives access to guild activities. Leaving imposes a 30-minute wait before you can join another.
Replacing an Inactive Leader
Impeachment eligibility depends on the leader’s offline duration and the initiating member’s role.
| Who can initiate | Leader offline requirement |
|---|---|
| Deputy leader | 3 days |
| Officers | 7 days |
| Any member | 30 days |
A successful impeachment transfers leadership to the player who started it.
Quests and Progress Chests
Guild quests refresh each day and grant completion rewards. They also add progress toward chest milestones. Total guild progress combines the contributions of all members.
Both chest availability and accumulated progress reset daily, so claim eligible chests before the reset.
Guild Training and Boss Rallies
Improving Combat Styles
Training covers 6 combat styles, and its stat bonuses apply only to characters belonging to the matching style.
| Training type | Required resource | Function or unlock condition |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Training | Training Vouchers | Raises HP, Attack, and Defense |
| Intensive Training | Combat Recordings | Opens after the required Basic Training level |
The Basic Training level ceiling rises whenever all six styles have advanced by five Basic Training levels.
Guild Boss Schedule
Guild Boss opens on the region’s Day 2. Its active period lasts 7 days, followed by a 7-day cooldown before the next event.
The active schedule contains three bosses:
- Challenge the first boss during its two-day window.
- Move to the second boss for another two days.
- Fight the third boss during the next two days.
- The final day serves as a showcase period.
Starting a rally makes you its leader; joining an existing rally makes you a member. The rally uses the leader’s lineup for its boss challenge.
Quick Tips
- Use control effects against Shadow Sabbath rather than relying on obstructions.
- Save enough unused characters for later Team Extreme Trial rounds.
- Separate unlimited challenge attempts from limited reward claims.
- Attack the newest unlocked World Boss if you want leaderboard eligibility.
- Use free ranked rematches to improve results until an opponent’s point ceiling is reached.
- Check mode-specific settlement times and collect daily guild chests before reset.
