Lord of the Mysteries Gear Guide: Weapons & Sealed Artifacts
Updated October 12, 2026
Your Sequence is only part of your strength in Lord of the Mysteries. A complete, well-developed loadout can make a major difference in combat: weapons supply offensive power, equipment supports survival and build-specific stats, and Sealed Artifacts bring effects that ordinary gear cannot replace. Start by covering your slots, then invest in upgrades that fit your Pathway and role.
Build Your Loadout in the Right Order
Treat gearing as a progression plan rather than a hunt for the rarest possible drop.
- Choose a suitable weapon. Match it to your Pathway and combat role, then make it your main offensive investment.
- Equip something in every slot. Temporary pieces still contribute stats while you work toward better replacements.
- Improve your main loadout. Concentrate resources instead of scattering upgrades across the roster.
- Refine stats, affixes, and brands. Look for bonuses that support how your character actually fights.
- Choose artifacts for specific encounters. Develop the ones you use rather than upgrading every relic you obtain.
Rarity runs from Rare through Epic and Legendary to Mythic. Better rarity raises an item's potential, but does not automatically make an undeveloped piece stronger. An upgraded Epic can temporarily beat a Legendary that has received no investment.
Keep your progression stage in mind, too. Avoid spending heavily on gear you expect to replace soon, but do not let low-rarity equipment hold back a character entering higher Sequences.
Weapons, Equipment, and Artifacts Serve Different Jobs
| Gear category | Main purpose | Selection priority |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | Provide the largest individual contribution to offense | Pathway compatibility and damage performance |
| Equipment | Add defense, utility, and supporting attributes | Slot coverage and useful stat combinations |
| Sealed Artifacts | Introduce distinctive combat effects | Whether the effect helps with the encounter |
Weapons: Invest Where Damage Comes From
The weapon pool contains 108 entries, with Legendary items accounting for most of them and a smaller Mythic selection at the top. Weapons reflect different Pathway styles, so rarity alone is not enough to judge a replacement.
For most builds, the weapon deserves the earliest substantial upgrades. After selecting an appropriate option, improve its quality and level while keeping the rest of your loadout equipped.
Equipment: Complete All 12 Slots
There are 152 equipment pieces covering defensive and accessory categories. These pieces help you survive and provide secondary stats that bring a build together.
The complete loadout uses the following slots:
| Slot | Function or typical emphasis |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Primary offensive slot |
| Armor | Central defensive piece |
| Hat | Often supports offense or skills |
| Cape | Can provide Pathway-focused bonuses |
| Gloves | Hand equipment |
| Boots | Often associated with evasion or mobility |
| Belt | Waist equipment |
| Amulet | Charm equipment that can involve set effects |
| Necklace | Accessory equipment |
| Bracelet | Accessory equipment |
| Ring | Accessory equipment |
| Brooch | Accessory equipment |
Completing the loadout comes before perfecting every individual piece. Leaving a slot vacant means missing stats that even a temporary item could supply.
Read Gear Stats Before Comparing Items
A higher-rarity item is not necessarily the better fit if its bonuses work against your intended role. Separate offensive gains from survival tools when judging replacements.
| Stat | What it contributes |
|---|---|
| ATK | A core value used to scale damage |
| DEF | Mitigation against physical damage and much other incoming damage |
| HP | Your maximum health pool |
| Crit | Rating associated with critical hits |
| Anti-Crit | Protection against enemy critical hits |
| Block | Blocking capability and incoming-hit mitigation |
| Pierce | Bypasses some enemy defense |
| DEF Pen | Reduces the defense effectively applied by the target |
| DMG Bonus | Raises damage dealt |
| DMG Reduction | Lowers damage received |
| Monster-spec. | Bonuses directed at monsters, useful for PvE |
| Pathway-spec. | Offensive or defensive bonuses linked to Pathway power |
| Skill Enhance | Improves skill effectiveness |
| Skill Resistance | Helps defend against skills |
An offensive setup commonly values ATK, critical bonuses, penetration, and damage increases. A character struggling to stay alive should also consider HP, DEF, Block, and mitigation rather than judging every upgrade by damage alone.
Affixes Add Another Layer of Customization
Random affixes, also called gear “words,” sit alongside an item's base attributes. Many have both fixed-value and percentage forms. Rerolling and forging these bonuses are important when refining a developed build.
Match Affix Families to Your Content
| Affix group | Examples | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| Basic combat | Attack, Defense, Pierce, Block, Min Attack, Max Attack | General offense and durability |
| Critical and damage modifiers | Crit Damage, Anti-Crit, Ignore Defense, DEF Break, Phys/Magic DMG Reduction | Stronger damage output or protection |
| Character attributes | Wisdom, Strength | Attribute scaling for your kit |
| Pathway bonuses | Pathway Resistance, Pathway ATK, Pathway Suppression, Pathway DEF | Pathway-oriented combat scaling |
| Monster bonuses | Monster Resistance, Monster ATK, Monster Suppression, Monster DEF | Specialized PvE performance |
| Control bonuses | Control Resist, Control Hit, Control Enhance, Control Evasion | Applying or resisting crowd control |
The wider pool also includes physical and magical Pathway variants, along with control modifiers for on-hit effects and status effects.
For advanced PvE, pay attention to Pathway scaling and monster-related bonuses. In PvP, control stats become especially relevant because landing or avoiding a disabling effect can change the fight.
Brands: Check the Trigger and the Trade-Off
Equipment set effects are known as brands. They can combine immediate stat gains with conditional bonuses, while some introduce disadvantages or interact with allies through a Virtue.
Brands can appear on equipment rather than belonging exclusively to one fixed item. The values below are base figures, before rarity and upgrades modify them.
Offensive and Specialist Brands
| Brand | Base benefit | Condition or drawback |
|---|---|---|
| Endless Azure | +175 ATK | No additional condition listed |
| Golden Twilight | +100 Pierce | No additional condition listed |
| A Rose | +100 Pathway-spec. ATK; +100 Pathway-spec. DEF | Supports both sides of Pathway combat |
| Taste of the Witch | +180 ATK; −15 DEF | Entering battle with an opposite-sex ally adds another 20 ATK |
| Expectant | +220 Crit | Once combat begins, adds 10 Crit every 5 seconds, capped at an extra 80 |
| Avenger | +320 Monster-spec. ATK | Taking a hit supplies another 50 for 8 seconds |
| Roselle’s Amulet | +360 Monster-spec. ATK | Provides an additional 60 against Emperor Roselle |
Team Effects, Defensive Triggers, and Corruption
| Brand | Effect |
|---|---|
| Guardian | Adds 40 Skill Enhance and protects nearby allies; the squad receives 10 Skill Resistance |
| Knowledge is Power | Grants 250 ATK, costs 15 DEF, and provides the Wesir family Virtue; each ally carrying a Virtue adds 10 ATK |
| Nightwatcher | Dealing damage grants 90 Crit and 90 Anti-Crit for 3 seconds, with a 5-second trigger interval |
| Last Stand | A crowd-control-break skill grants 50 Skill Resistance for 5 seconds; can trigger once every 30 seconds |
| Homeless | Adds 375 ATK and 15 Corruption but removes 10 Skill Enhance; reaching 30 Corruption grants 30 Anti-Crit while reducing ATK by 45 |
Do not evaluate a brand only by its largest number. Expectant builds value over time, Avenger requires you to take a hit, and Last Stand depends on a particular skill action. Corruption brands demand extra attention because reaching a threshold can introduce a penalty.
Sealed Artifacts: Choose Utility Over Raw Numbers
The game includes 18 Sealed Artifacts, alongside materials for unsealing and upgrading them. Their defining feature is their special effect, not ordinary stat growth.
Their effects and descriptions span a wide range: mental protection, temporary enhancements, dangerous area effects, and protection from a lethal strike. Some also involve serious drawbacks, so an apparently powerful relic may not suit every situation.
Use this checklist when deciding where to invest:
- Identify the problem. Look for an effect that addresses the encounter rather than choosing a relic simply because it is available.
- Read the restrictions. Pay attention to penalties, duration limits, and activation conditions.
- Upgrade practical choices. Spend materials on artifacts that regularly earn a place in your loadout.
Mistakes That Waste Gear Resources
- Replacing developed gear purely for rarity. Compare current performance, not just the higher item's eventual ceiling.
- Perfecting one accessory while other slots remain empty. A complete setup gives you a stronger foundation for later refinement.
- Ignoring Pathway compatibility. A weapon must suit the character using it.
- Taking conditional bonuses for granted. A brand loses value when your setup cannot reliably activate it.
- Overlooking Corruption penalties. Strong initial gains can come with meaningful costs at the threshold.
- Upgrading too many characters at once. Build a dependable main setup before widening your investment.
Quick Tips
- Prioritize a weapon that fits your Pathway.
- Cover all 12 slots before chasing perfect rolls.
- Compare actual stats as well as rarity.
- Match affixes and brand triggers to your role and content.
- Invest in Sealed Artifacts whose effects you genuinely use.
