Anchor Panic Beginner's Guide: Operators, Combat, and Progression

Updated October 12, 2026

Welcome, new recruits, to the world of Anchor Panic! This guide will walk you through the essential mechanics and strategies to get you started on your journey. Anchor Panic is a team-based strategy RPG where you collect unique Operators, assemble them into powerful squads, and engage in tactical combat.

Your First Steps in Anchor Panic

Your initial hours in Anchor Panic serve as an interactive tutorial, guiding you through the core gameplay. Your primary early decisions revolve around which starting Operators to focus on and whether to reroll for stronger initial pulls. Follow these steps to kickstart your adventure:

  1. Claim Alice: Use the Starter Selector to acquire Alice. This is a guaranteed pick, so there's no randomness involved.
  2. Clear Early Stages: Progress through the opening story stages. This unlocks crucial features like the gacha system and various progression menus.
  3. Consider Rerolling: After unlocking the gacha, you might want to decide if you'll reroll for specific Standard banner targets. This can provide a stronger foundation for your team.
  4. Advance the Story: Once you have a foundational team, prioritize pushing the main story. Story missions are the most efficient way to gain resources and unlock the upgrade systems needed for your Operators.

Understanding Combat Fundamentals

In Anchor Panic, battles unfold with your squad of five Operators facing off against enemies. While much of the combat is automated, your crucial input comes from executing timely blocks. Positioning is key: each Operator occupies a specific spot, influencing who they target and who targets them. For example, fragile damage dealers (Strikers) should generally be placed behind robust defenders to protect them.

Operator Roles

Every Operator in Anchor Panic is assigned one of six distinct roles, defining their primary function within a squad. A balanced team typically combines damage dealers with various support and defensive units to ensure sustained effectiveness.

Constructing Your Initial Team

When assembling your squad of up to five Operators, aim for a clear strategy. A highly effective beginner team composition often includes:

  • One Primary Damage Dealer (Carry): The Operator responsible for the bulk of your damage output.
  • One Enabler: An Operator who enhances the team's capabilities, often by boosting allies or debuffing enemies.
  • One Breaker: An Operator focused on disrupting enemy formations or defenses.
  • One Sustain/Tank: An Operator dedicated to absorbing damage or providing healing and shields to keep the team alive.

Resource Investment Strategies

Early in Anchor Panic, resources are limited, making smart investment crucial. Focus on upgrading the Operators you actively use in combat, following this general priority:

  • Leveling (up to 80): Operator levels are the biggest source of base HP, Attack, and Defense. Keep your active team leveled to match the difficulty of the stages you're pushing. Avoid leveling Operators you aren't currently using.
  • Skills (up to Lv. 15): Operators have Basic, Active, Ultimate, and Passive skills. Increasing skill levels enhances their effects and damage. Prioritize the main damage skill and Ultimate of your primary damage dealer.
  • Star Ranks (up to 6★): Obtaining duplicate Operators allows you to increase their Star Rank. Each star provides cumulative flat and percentage stat bonuses and can unlock additional skill effects, representing a significant long-term power boost.
  • Resonance: This is a node-based progression tree offering stat bonuses and skill enhancements. Invest in Resonance for your main damage dealer once their level and gear are established.
  • Models (Main Gear): Each Operator has six Model slots. Models feature a main stat and random sub-stats. Matching Model sets grant powerful 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses. This is where intricate optimization takes place.
  • Bracelets & Energy Cores: These are two additional equipment layers that stack their own stats and refine effects, offering further customization for advanced players.

The Mind Body System

Separate from standard progression, the Mind Body (心智体) system offers a unique upgrade path for specific Operators. This 30-level stat ladder provides substantial increases to HP, Attack, and Defense. It also unlocks a special talent skill at level 1, which further improves at levels 10, 20, and 30. Not all Operators possess a Mind Body, but for those who do, it represents a significant power spike beyond typical progression.

Spending and Gacha Banners

Operators come in different rarities: SSR (Super Super Rare) > SR (Super Rare) > R (Rare). Your pulls primarily come from three types of banners.

Strategic Pulls

Avoid spreading your in-game currency thin by chasing every new banner or attempting to acquire every duplicate. Instead, focus on building a strong core team, investing in their proper development, and utilizing free Operators to fill any gaps in your squad.

Quick Tips

  • Always prioritize leveling your main damage dealer and core team.
  • Focus story progression for efficient resource gain.
  • Position fragile Operators carefully behind tanks.
  • Save currency for Operators that significantly enhance your chosen strategy.
  • Don't neglect skill upgrades for your key Operators.
