MapleStory Classic Cash item Guide
Updated October 21, 2026
Cash items in MapleStory Classic World are premium purchases paid for with NX (Nexon Cash), covering outfits, pets, and useful extras. This guide explains their inventory restrictions, expiration timers, and gameplay functions based on pre-launch information, which may change before release.
Cash Item Basics
The Cash Shop uses NX, a currency purchased with real money, rather than mesos. Its items occupy a dedicated inventory section and have different ownership and expiration rules from ordinary loot.
| Detail | How it works |
|---|---|
| Item category | Cash |
| Purchase currency | NX (Nexon Cash) |
| Purchase location | In-game Cash Shop |
| Inventory location | Cash tab |
| Selling to NPCs | Not available |
| Main purposes | Appearance changes, convenience features, and pets |
Premium purchases sit alongside the meso economy rather than replacing equipment progression. Your level, skills, equipment, and scrolling determine combat strength; cash cosmetics do not directly increase those stats. Convenience items can still affect play through functions such as resets, additional storage, and automated potion use.
Types of Cash Items
There are 23 subcategories, organized into six themes.
| Theme | Included subcategories | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing cosmetics | Cash Hat, Cash Top, Cash Overall, Cash Bottom, Cash Shoes, Cash Gloves, Cash Cape, Cash Shield | Change the visible appearance of armor slots without replacing their stats |
| Accessory cosmetics | Cash Eye Accessory, Cash Face Accessory, Cash Ring, Cash Earring | Add visual changes to accessory slots |
| Weapon cosmetics | Cash Weapon | Alter weapon visuals, including how attacks look, without changing damage |
| Pet system | Pet, Pet Skill, Cash Pet Equip | Provide companions, automation abilities, and pet customization |
| Utility purchases | Coupon, Megaphone, Storage, Store Permit, Scroll | Include AP resets, broadcast messages, storage expansion, and NPC-store permits |
| Effects and miscellaneous | Weather Effect, Other | Cover environmental visuals and items outside the other groups |
Inventory Space and Ownership Restrictions
Cash purchases go into the Cash tab, not the equipment, consumable, material, or setup sections. This tab maintains its own capacity, which is generally lower than that of the other inventory tabs.
Ownership restrictions determine whether a purchase can move elsewhere:
- Character-bound: Most purchases belong to the buying character. They cannot be traded, dropped, or passed to another character on that account.
- Account-bound: Certain items can move between your own characters, but cannot transfer to a different account.
- Strictly non-transferable: Some items remain with their original character permanently.
Do not plan around selling unwanted cosmetics through NPCs or the Free Market. Most cash purchases do not circulate through player trading, and stacking is generally not relevant.
The Cash inventory also has no slot coupon. Treat storage-expansion utilities as separate from increasing this tab’s capacity.
Expiration and Permanent Versions
Many cash purchases last 30, 60, or 90 days. When their allotted time runs out, they disappear from your inventory.
For these timed items, the countdown begins when you open the Cash Shop wrapper, rather than when you pay for the purchase. Leaving an item wrapped until you intend to use it preserves its usable period.
Some clothing cosmetics have permanent alternatives. These cost more NX for the same appearance, but remove the expiration deadline—a useful distinction when choosing a long-term outfit.
How Cosmetic Layers Work
Cash apparel changes what your character displays, while regular equipment underneath continues supplying stats and defense.
For example, a Beret can visually cover a Yellow Bandana without costing you the bandana’s equipment benefits. You can switch between cash hats while keeping the same stat-bearing hat equipped.
The two layers behave independently:
- Removing the cosmetic makes your normal equipment visible again.
- Removing the normal equipment leaves the cosmetic displayed over the character’s default appearance, but removes the underlying gear’s benefits.
Cash weapons follow the same visual-only principle: a different appearance does not mean higher damage.
Pets and Purchased Abilities
Pets follow your character and have a hunger meter that decreases over time. Keeping them fed supports their continued activity and use of purchased abilities.
| Pet ability | Function |
|---|---|
| Auto Move | Automatically collects nearby drops and mesos |
| Auto HP Potion | Uses an inventory potion when HP falls below your selected threshold |
| Auto MP Potion | Uses an inventory potion when MP falls below your selected threshold |
Pet skills require separate purchases from the companion itself. Those skills persist independently of the particular pet you currently have active.
Automatic potion use can make extended grinding safer, but it consumes your own supplies. It does not create free healing or MP recovery.
Quick Tips
- Check ownership restrictions before buying something for another character.
- Keep timed purchases wrapped until you are ready to use them.
- Compare permanent and temporary versions when committing to an outfit.
- Keep stat-bearing equipment equipped beneath your cosmetics.
- Budget separately for a pet and its abilities.
- Feed your pet and carry sufficient potions for automatic recovery.
- Do not assume a storage purchase expands the Cash tab.
