MapleStory Classic Etc item Guide
Updated October 21, 2026
Etc items in MapleStory Classic World are carried in your inventory rather than equipped or used to activate an effect. They include monster trophies, quest objects, and crafting resources, so deciding what to keep depends on more than the NPC sale price.
What Counts as an Etc Item?
Anything assigned to the inventory’s Etc tab belongs to this category. These items connect everyday monster hunting with quest rewards, crafting progression, NPC sales, and trading through the Free Market.
A Slime Bubble, for example, sells to an NPC for 6 mesos. Keeping it for an early Maple Island quest can instead help you earn XP and starter mesos, while a crafter may save a stack of 20 for recipes. The item stays the same; its usefulness changes with your plans.
These details reflect pre-launch verification and may change.
The Seven Etc Item Groups
| Group | Main role | Examples or identifying details |
|---|---|---|
| Quest item | Needed for a quest or received during one | Athena Pierce's Letter; most have an NPC value of 1 meso |
| Monster drop | Loot collected while fighting, often sold or submitted for quests | Animal Fur Bundle |
| Gem | Precious stones in uncut or finished form | Amethyst, Aquamarine; gem-cutting processes uncut ores into finished gems |
| Ore Mineral | Resources and intermediate products used in smithing | Adamantium Ore, Bronze Ingot; refined ingots support weapon and armor recipes |
| Crafting material | Ingredients required by particular recipes | Their practical value depends on whether someone needs them for crafting |
| Stimulator | Catalysts that influence crafting or scrolling results | Scarce, costly resources best reserved for valuable attempts |
| Misc | Items outside the other six groups | Keepsakes, token-like currencies, and seasonal objects |
Finished gems can provide substantial meso income from zones that drop them. Before selling gems, ingots, or other production resources, consider whether another player needs them more than an NPC shop does.
Inventory Space and Stack Limits
The Etc tab is separate from Equip, Use, and Setup storage. Its starting capacity is 24 slots, with additional space available through cash-shop upgrade coupons or event rewards.
Stack sizes depend on the item:
| Item type | Typical maximum per stack |
|---|---|
| Monster trophies | 200 |
| Ores | 200 |
| Unique quest objects | 1 |
These are typical limits, not a promise that every item follows the same rule.
Quest objects are a common cause of crowded inventories. Several different non-stacking items can occupy more space than hundreds of identical drops, so finishing outstanding turn-ins often helps more than selling a single large stack.
Before discarding an unfamiliar quest object, confirm whether it is still needed and whether dropping, selling, or storing it is appropriate.
How to Obtain Etc Items
Monster hunting
Combat supplies most Etc items. Most monsters have at least one trophy-style drop, while some can produce several different kinds. These drops may become routine NPC income, quest supplies, or materials worth saving.
Quest progression
Quests often ask for monster loot, but some use special objects obtained from an NPC or chest. Certain quests also give Etc items as keepsakes or other thematic rewards.
Crafting
Production systems create intermediate resources as well as finished equipment. Smithing can produce ingots, gem-cutting yields finished stones, and other crafting paths generate refined ingredients for later recipes.
A few Etc items are sold by NPC shops, but purchasing them is the exception. Most enter your inventory through combat, quests, or crafting.
Should You Sell or Keep Them?
Use an item’s NPC value as an initial clue—not a definitive verdict.
| NPC sale value | Likely explanation | Recommended approach |
|---|---|---|
| 1 meso | Usually tied to a quest | Keep it until its quest is complete or you have confirmed the associated questline no longer needs it |
| 10–500 mesos | Commonly a monster trophy | Check for relevant quest turn-ins, then sell unwanted surplus |
| 1,000+ mesos | Often a gem or advanced crafting product | Compare player demand and Free Market prices before accepting the NPC offer |
| No listed value | May be untradable, or its pricing information may be incomplete | Hold it until you can establish its purpose and sale restrictions |
A 1-meso price is a warning to investigate, not protection against an accidental sale. Likewise, a valuable NPC offer does not necessarily represent the best return: crafting demand may make the Free Market a better option.
Low-priced items deserve a quick check too. Slime Bubble’s 6-meso value falls outside the common 10–500 mesos range, yet it can still serve quest and crafting purposes.
Quick Tips
- Treat 1-meso items as potential quest requirements until you confirm otherwise.
- Check turn-ins before clearing out monster trophies.
- Compare Free Market offers before selling gems or refined materials to NPCs.
- Expect 200 per stack for many drops and ores, but verify individual limits.
- Complete lingering quests to recover slots occupied by unique objects.
- Keep items with unknown sale values until their use is clear.
