MapleStory Classic Fighter Guide

Updated October 21, 2026

Fighter is MapleStory Classic World’s STR-driven Warrior specialization, built for steady sword or axe damage and follow-up attacks through Final Attack. Its standout party contribution is Rage, which temporarily increases weapon attack for everyone in the group.

Fighter suits players who want sustained melee damage alongside a useful group buff. Its equipment choices also leave room to favor either a shield’s added stats or a two-handed weapon’s stronger base attack.

Pre-launch note: Classic World does not currently offer a 3rd-job promotion.

How to Become a Fighter

Start the promotion process at the pavilion belonging to Dances with Balrog in Perion.

To qualify, you must:

  • Already be a Warrior.
  • Reach level 30 or above.
  • Finish the Warrior’s second-job promotion quest.
  • Select Fighter when choosing your specialization.

The other available paths are Page and Spearman, so make sure you select Fighter before completing your class choice.

Combat Identity and Key Skills

Fighter’s core approach combines STR-based melee damage with weapon-specific attacks and Final Attack follow-ups. Two features define the specialization:

FeatureWhat it contributes
RageA temporary weapon-attack increase shared across the party
Final AttackFollow-up attack chains that support sustained damage

Rage gives Fighter a role beyond personal damage output. When fighting with a group, maintaining its benefit is an important part of supporting the party.

STR remains your main damage-scaling attribute, but equipment requirements also matter. Many weapons and armor pieces require DEX, so check your intended upgrades rather than assuming STR alone will unlock them.

Choosing Your Weapon Setup

Both swords and axes come in one-handed and two-handed forms. The main equipment decision is whether to retain a shield slot or give it up for higher weapon attack.

SetupMain benefitTrade-off
One-handed sword or axe with a shieldShield access can provide STR, weapon attack, and defenseLower weapon base attack than a two-handed alternative
Two-handed sword or axeSignificantly stronger base attackCannot use a shield alongside it

Compare the complete setup, not just the weapon’s attack value. A one-handed weapon’s appeal depends partly on the shield you can pair with it.

One-Handed Weapon Examples

These options provide useful upgrade checkpoints from the advancement level onward. They are examples, not a complete weapon catalog.

WeaponTypeRequired levelRequired statsWeapon attack
GladiusOne-handed sword30STR 65, DEX 3047
CutlusOne-handed sword35STR 70, DEX 3055

DankkeOne-handed axe35STR 70, DEX 3055
Blue CounterOne-handed axe40STR 80, DEX 3560
BuckOne-handed axe50STR 100, DEX 4567

Notice that level eligibility does not guarantee you can equip an item. For example, Gladius becomes available at level 30 but still requires STR 65 and DEX 30.

Armor and Shield Planning

Fighters use Warrior chain and plate armor, emphasizing physical protection and STR-oriented gearing. Requirements vary by item, so treat the examples below as planning checkpoints rather than universal rules.

EquipmentSlotRequired levelRequired stats
Jousting HelmetHat30STR 50, DEX 20
Steel MisselGloves30STR 50, DEX 20
Red Cross ShieldShield30STR 50, DEX 20

Skull ShieldShield50STR 90, DEX 40
Silver Legend ShieldShield60STR 110, DEX 50

Weapon requirements can exceed those of armor at the same level. Plan around the specific weapon you want, then check whether your armor and shield choices fit that stat investment.

Quick Tips

  • Visit Dances with Balrog in Perion once your Warrior reaches level 30.
  • Choose Fighter rather than Page or Spearman during promotion.
  • Build around STR while checking DEX requirements for upcoming gear.
  • Keep Rage active when your party benefits from additional weapon attack.
  • Evaluate a one-handed weapon together with its shield.
  • Consider a two-handed weapon when stronger base attack matters more than shield bonuses.
  • Treat progression details as pre-launch information; 3rd-job advancement is not available yet.
