MapleStory Classic Magician gear guide
Updated October 21, 2026
Build your Magician around stronger weapons, INT-focused armor, and enough LUK to equip the next upgrade in MapleStory Classic World. This level 10–40 route covers purchases, monster drops, and crafting after your first job advancement, using pre-launch equipment details that may change.
Your Upgrade Plan
Save your mesos on Maple Island rather than buying temporary equipment. Once you reach Victoria Island, Stumps can provide a Wooden Staff, while Slimes can drop Lemona gloves for level 15.
Ellinia is your main shopping hub:
- Flora the Fairy: Weapons, with the listed shop options ending at level 25.
- Serabi the Fairy: Early armor, robes, and footwear.
- Crafting: Early wooden weapons use Woodcrafting; later weapon upgrades depend on Arcforge. Tailoring supplies gloves and becomes especially important for footwear at level 30.
- Monster hunting: Key robe upgrades come from Jr. Wraith, Zombie Mushroom, and Cold Eye.
| Level bracket | Main equipment goal |
|---|---|
| 10–15 | Establish your weapon setup, then pick up a Blue Plain Robe at 15. |
| 20–25 | Check weapon LUK requirements and work toward a Doros robe. |
| 30 | Move to a crafted Mithril Wand; use Tailoring for shoes and gloves. |
| 35–40 | Combine crafted weapons and accessories with hunted robes and hats. |
All listed prices are shop costs in mesos. Crafting entries show the profession and its required tier, not a material recipe.
Pick Your Weapon Path
Wands offer more magic attack than the listed same-level staves. The staff progression covered here ends with Wizard Staff at level 25, whereas wands have upgrades through level 40, making the wand route the straightforward long-term choice.
Check both INT and LUK before spending money or crafting. The early wooden weapons need only INT, but later upgrades add LUK requirements.
Wand progression
| Level | Weapon | M.ATK | W.ATK | Required stats | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Wooden Wand | +27 | +18 | INT 20 | Flora: 3,000; Stump drop; Woodcrafting 2 |
| 15 | Hardwood Wand | +34 | +23 | INT 30 | Flora: 5,000; Woodcrafting 3 |
| 20 | Metal Wand | +41 | +21 | INT 40, LUK 10 | Flora: 10,500; Arcforge 4 |
| 25 | Ice Wand | +48 | +24 | INT 50, LUK 15 | Flora: 13,500; Arcforge 5 |
| 30 | Mithril Wand | +55 | +27 | INT 60, LUK 20 | Arcforge 6 |
| 35 | Wizard Wand | +62 | +43 | INT 70, LUK 25 | Arcforge 7 |
| 40 | Fairy Wand | +69 | +48 | INT 80, LUK 30 | Arcforge 8 |
The Mithril Wand at level 30 is the first wand in this route without a shop purchase option. Plan your Arcforge progression before reaching that point.
Staff progression
| Level | Weapon | M.ATK | W.ATK | Required stats | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Wooden Staff | +24 | +20 | INT 20 | Flora: 3,000; Stump drop; Woodcrafting 2 |
| 15 | Emerald Staff | +31 | +25 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Flora: 5,000; Arcforge 3 |
| 20 | Old Wooden Staff | +38 | +30 | INT 40, LUK 15 | Flora: 10,500; Woodcrafting 4 |
| 25 | Wizard Staff | +45 | +35 | INT 50, LUK 20 | Flora: 13,500; Arcforge 5 |
A dropped Wooden Staff is a useful way to avoid an initial weapon purchase. If you continue buying weapons, compare the wand option at each tier before committing to another staff.
Early Armor: Levels 10–20
Serabi’s color variants often trade INT for LUK while keeping the same price. Favor INT for damage, but choose the LUK alternative when it helps you meet your next weapon’s requirements.
The standout purchase is the Blue Plain Robe at level 15. Its +29 W.DEF and +38 M.DEF exceed the combined defenses of the level 10 Black Armine pieces, and it provides INT +3.
| Level | Equipment | Slot | Bonuses | Required stats | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Brown Apprentice Hat | Hat | INT +1; W.DEF +8; M.DEF +10 | INT 10 | Serabi: 1,200; Tailoring 2 |
| 10 | Black Armine | Top | INT +1; W.DEF +13; M.DEF +18 | INT 10 | Serabi: 2,000 |
| 10 | Black Armine Skirt | Bottom | INT +1; W.DEF +9; M.DEF +12 | INT 10 | Serabi: 1,600 |
| 10 | Blue Basic Boots | Shoes | AVO +1; Speed +1; W.DEF +5; M.DEF +6 | INT 10 | Serabi: 1,200 |
| 15 | Brown Moon Conehat | Hat | INT +1; HP +5; W.DEF +10; M.DEF +12 | INT 20 | Serabi: 1,800 |
| 15 | Blue Plain Robe | Overall | INT +3; W.DEF +29; M.DEF +38 | INT 20 | Serabi: 5,400 |
| 15 | Lemona | Gloves | INT +1; W.DEF +3; M.DEF +5 | INT 20 | Slime drop; Tailoring 3 |
| 20 | Blue Wizardry Hat | Hat | INT +1; MP +10; W.DEF +12; M.DEF +14 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Serabi: 3,600 |
| 20 | Blue Split Piece | Top | INT +2; W.DEF +19; M.DEF +24 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Serabi: 6,000 |
| 20 | White Split Pants | Bottom | INT +2; W.DEF +13; M.DEF +16 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Serabi: 4,800 |
| 20 | Blue Jewelry Boots | Shoes | AVO +2; LUK +2; W.DEF +7; M.DEF +8 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Serabi: 3,600 |
| 20 | Blue Morrican | Gloves | INT +2; W.DEF +4; M.DEF +6 | INT 30, LUK 10 | Tailoring 4 |
If you are conserving mesos, treat the level 20 top-and-bottom purchase as optional rather than automatic. Check how close you are to the level 25 Doros upgrade before replacing your robe.
Doros and the Crafting Transition: Levels 25–30
At level 25, your robe choice can solve either a damage need or an equipment requirement:
- Blue Doros Robe: INT +5.
- Yellow Doros Robe: LUK +5.
- White Doros Robe: A mixed INT/LUK option dropped by Jr. Wraith.
Hunting Jr. Wraith in the subway gives you a chance to obtain a robe while training, rather than relying entirely on purchases.
| Level | Equipment | Slot | Bonuses | Required stats | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | Blue Doros Robe | Overall | INT +5; W.DEF +40; M.DEF +49 | INT 40, LUK 15 | Serabi: 13,500 |
| 25 | Silver Wind Shoes | Shoes | AVO +2; LUK +2; MP +5; W.DEF +8; M.DEF +9 | INT 40, LUK 15 | Serabi: 3,500; Tailoring 5; Cutthroat Manny's Request reward |
| 25 | Ocean Mesana | Gloves | INT +2; MP +5; W.DEF +5; M.DEF +7 | INT 40, LUK 15 | Tailoring 5 |
| 30 | Green Jester | Hat | LUK +3; W.DEF +16 | INT 50, LUK 20 | Acquisition unconfirmed |
| 30 | Blue Wizard Robe | Overall | INT +6; W.DEF +46; M.DEF +55 | INT 50, LUK 20 | Acquisition unconfirmed |
| 30 | Blue Magic Shoes | Shoes | AVO +3; LUK +3; W.DEF +9; M.DEF +10 | INT 50, LUK 20 | Tailoring 6 |
| 30 | Blue Lutia | Gloves | INT +3; W.DEF +6; M.DEF +8 | INT 50, LUK 20 | Tailoring 6 |
Do not build your shopping budget around Green Jester or Blue Wizard Robe. Their stats are known, but their acquisition methods were not confirmed in the pre-launch details.
Silver Wind Shoes are particularly flexible: you can buy them, craft them, or obtain them through the named quest.
Hunting for Armor: Levels 35–40
After level 30, the confirmed robe upgrades come from monster drops. Aim your training toward the relevant enemies when practical, while preparing crafted weapons, gloves, and shoes separately.
| Target | Where to hunt, when specified | Notable equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Zombie Mushroom | Ant Tunnel | Blue Chaos Robe: INT +6; White Chaos Robe: LUK +6 |
| Cold Eye | Tunnel That Lost Light | Blue Starlight: INT +8; Brown Starlight: LUK +8 |
| Curse Eye | — | Green Matty |
| Fire Boar | — | Red Matty; Red Guiltian |
The INT and LUK robe alternatives let you adjust around your weapon requirements. A higher-INT robe is not always the most useful immediate choice if you still need LUK to equip your next wand.
| Level | Equipment | Slot | Bonuses | Required stats | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 35 | Blue Chaos Robe | Overall | INT +6; MP +5; W.DEF +51; M.DEF +60 | INT 60, LUK 25 | Zombie Mushroom drop |
| 35 | Green Matty | Hat | LUK +3; HP +5; W.DEF +18; M.DEF +20 | INT 60, LUK 25 | Curse Eye drop |
| 35 | Red Amoria Skirt | Bottom | INT +3; HP +5; W.DEF +19; M.DEF +22 | INT 60, LUK 25 | Acquisition unconfirmed |
| 35 | Black Salt Shoes | Shoes | AVO +3; LUK +3; MP +5; W.DEF +10; M.DEF +11 | INT 60, LUK 25 | Tailoring 7 |
| 35 | Blue Noel | Gloves | INT +3; MP +5; W.DEF +7; M.DEF +9 | INT 60, LUK 25 | Tailoring 7 |
| 40 | Blue Starlight | Overall | INT +8; W.DEF +57; M.DEF +66 | INT 70, LUK 30 | Cold Eye drop |
| 40 | Red Guiltian | Hat | HP +40; W.DEF +20; M.DEF +22 | INT 70, LUK 30 | Fire Boar drop |
| 40 | Gold Moon Shoes | Shoes | AVO +4; LUK +4; W.DEF +11; M.DEF +12 | INT 70, LUK 30 | Tailoring 8 |
| 40 | Blue Arten | Gloves | INT +4; W.DEF +8; M.DEF +10 | INT 70, LUK 30 | Tailoring 8 |
Other pieces remain uncertain. The level 30–40 Moonlight robe options, most Matty and Guiltian variants, Mystic Shield, and Esther Shield did not have confirmed acquisition methods in the pre-launch information.
Professions to Prepare
Crafting becomes central to this route rather than merely an alternative to shopping.
| Profession | Role in your progression |
|---|---|
| Woodcrafting | Produces Wooden Wand, Hardwood Wand, Wooden Staff, and Old Wooden Staff at their listed tiers. |
| Arcforge | Supplies the non-Woodcrafting weapons listed above, including the level 30, 35, and 40 wands. |
| Tailoring | Covers each glove tier from Lemona through Blue Arten, plus footwear from level 30 onward. It also provides some earlier armor options. |
If you are already advancing Tailoring, making eligible shop hats and early footwear can cost less than purchasing them outright. Compare material costs with the vendor price rather than assuming crafting is always the cheaper route.
For a smooth transition, aim to have access to Arcforge 6 and Tailoring 6 at level 30, then tiers 7 at level 35 and 8 at level 40 for the listed upgrades.
Quick Tips
- Save early mesos; a Stump-dropped Wooden Staff can cover your first weapon slot.
- Make the level 15 Blue Plain Robe a priority purchase.
- Check LUK requirements before buying or crafting a weapon.
- Consider Jr. Wraith for White Doros Robe before paying for another robe.
- Prepare Arcforge for Mithril Wand at level 30; Flora does not sell it.
- Target Zombie Mushroom for Chaos robes and Cold Eye for Starlights.
- Keep a usable backup when an upgrade depends on a drop or an unconfirmed acquisition method.
