MapleStory Classic Party Guide
Updated October 21, 2026
Parties in MapleStory Classic World let characters team up, share nearby skill effects, and enter content reserved for groups. At launch, their biggest benefits are five second-job support skills and the party quest First Time Together.
How Party Support Works
Joining a party does not automatically grant every teammate’s buffs. You must stay near the character using the skill: someone across the map—or on another map—will receive no benefit.
That makes positioning important. Travel and fight close enough for support characters to reach the group, especially when relying on a Cleric for healing. The exact range of these effects is not established, so do not assume that sharing a map is sufficient.
All five launch-era party support skills belong to second-job classes. A group made entirely of first-job characters cannot provide any of them.
Party Skills and Their Providers
| Skill | Classes that provide it | Effect on nearby teammates |
|---|---|---|
| Rage | Fighter | Increases attack power while reducing weapon defense |
| Bless | Cleric | Improves accuracy and avoidability, plus HP recovery received through items and skills |
| Heal | Cleric | Recovers HP and also harms nearby undead enemies |
| Meditation | Wizard (Fire/Poison), Wizard (Ice/Lightning) | Increases magic attack |
| Haste | Assassin, Bandit | Improves movement speed and jump |
Heal Changes With the Group
Heal’s recovery amount depends on the number of characters receiving it. Healing only the Cleric is therefore not equivalent to healing five characters.
Do not assume the same recovery amount regardless of how many teammates are caught by the skill. Keeping the Cleric near the active group makes healing available where it is needed.
Rage Has a Defensive Cost
Rage is the only party buff here with a drawback: its attack increase comes with reduced weapon defense.
It is particularly useful when extra damage helps the party defeat enemies before taking many hits. Cleric support also makes the defensive trade-off easier to manage than it would be for a group without healing.
Choosing Your Party Roles
Each class branch offers a different reason to join a group, though not every branch supplies a party skill.
| Branch or path | Party contribution at launch |
|---|---|
| Warrior → Fighter | Rage supplies the only party-wide physical attack increase |
| Magician → Cleric | Heal provides recovery, while Bless supplies the only party accuracy increase and additional support |
| Magician → either Wizard path | Meditation supports magic damage with extra magic attack |
| Thief → Assassin or Bandit | Haste helps teammates move and jump through maps together |
| Bowman | Has no party support skill at launch, but can benefit from teammates’ effects |
Choose support around what the group needs. Physical attackers benefit from Rage, magic users gain damage support from Meditation, and Haste is useful when everyone needs to cross maps together. Clerics contribute both recovery and accuracy support.
A Bowman’s lack of a party buff does not prevent them from joining or receiving those benefits.
First Time Together Party Quest
Party quests are staged, instanced challenges that require a group to enter. They are not available as solo content.
At launch, MapleStory Classic World has one party quest:
| Detail | First Time Together |
|---|---|
| Entry location | Kerning City |
| Eligible levels | 21–30 |
| Time limit | 30 minutes |
| Final encounter | King Slime |
For eligible characters, this is a concrete reason to organize a party beyond ordinary training: the group enters together, works through the stages, and faces King Slime at the end.
Party Rules That Remain Unconfirmed
Several important system details still need in-game verification. Avoid treating familiar rules from other versions of MapleStory as confirmed here.
| Unconfirmed detail | What remains unknown |
|---|---|
| Maximum party size | The available client information does not specify a character cap |
| EXP distribution | The server determines the split; the effects of level gaps and distance are not established |
| Skill range | Party skill descriptions give no numerical radius |
These gaps matter when planning a training group. You can rely on the need for proximity, but not on an exact range or an assumed EXP-sharing formula.
Quick Tips
- Stay near your support characters; party membership alone does not grant their effects.
- Keep the Cleric with the fighting group rather than far away in a safe spot.
- Match Rage to physical damage and Meditation to magic damage.
- Remember that Rage reduces weapon defense.
- Expect Heal’s recovery amount to vary with the number of recipients.
- Bring an eligible level 21–30 character to Kerning City for First Time Together, and plan around its 30-minute timer.
- Verify party capacity, EXP sharing, and exact support range in-game before building a strategy around them.
