MapleStory Classic Stats Guide

Updated October 21, 2026

Your stats in MapleStory Classic World shape your damage, survivability, movement, and equipment options. Because these details reflect pre-launch information, use them as a planning baseline rather than a guarantee that every mechanic will remain unchanged.

How Stats Work

Character attributes fall into two categories:

  • Primary attributes: STR, DEX, INT, and LUK—the stats you develop by spending ability points, or AP.
  • Derived attributes: HP, MP, accuracy, avoidability, speed, and jump—values determined by your job, level, primary attributes, gear, buffs, and relevant formulas.

A standard level-up provides 5 AP. Spending those points is a lasting decision: changing an allocation requires a reset mechanism, so repeated mistakes can create a substantial damage disadvantage over a long progression.

Primary Attributes Explained

Equipment, scrolls, and buffs can supplement your allocated stats. Unlike points invested through AP, bonuses attached to an equipped item disappear when you remove it.

AttributeNameMain job branchKey functions
STRStrengthWarriorScales melee damage and satisfies Strength thresholds on most Warrior weapons.
DEXDexterityBowmanScales bow and crossbow damage; provides the largest primary-stat contribution to accuracy.
INTIntelligenceMagicianScales magical damage and improves level-up MP gains for jobs that use INT scaling.
LUKLuckThiefScales Thief damage, strongly influences avoidability, and contributes to accuracy.

Your branch’s main attribute usually carries most of its damage scaling. Supporting attributes commonly help with landing attacks or meeting equipment requirements.

General Build Directions

These priorities describe broad build patterns, not exact point distributions.

Job or pathMain investmentSupporting investment
WarriorSTRA modest DEX investment for accuracy
BowmanDEXEnough STR for the intended bow
MagicianINTEither pure INT or a small LUK investment for accuracy
AssassinLUKDEX
BanditLUKSTR

The right allocation depends on your specific job path and planned equipment. Follow a job-specific progression plan for roughly your first 30 levels, then adjust only after understanding the trade-offs.

Derived Attributes and Their Effects

You do not assign points directly to these attributes through the primary-stat allocation system. Their values are recalculated as the game accounts for your current character state.

AttributeMain influencesPractical effect
HPJob, level, equipment, and HP washingDetermines your health pool. Warriors receive the greatest HP growth per level; Magicians receive the least.
MPJob, level, and INT where applicableDetermines your mana pool. Magicians receive INT-dependent bonus growth, while physical jobs receive flat level-up gains.
AccuracyMainly DEX, then LUK, alongside gearControls your ability to connect attacks against monsters. Too little produces misses.
AvoidabilityMainly LUK, then DEX, alongside gearInfluences whether you evade monster attacks.
SpeedGear and skill buffsChanges movement pace, subject to class-specific limits.
JumpGear and skill buffsChanges jumping height, subject to class-specific limits.

When You Can Allocate AP

The normal 5 AP per level rule has several important qualifications:

  • Before Lv 11: Level-up points are assigned automatically to the Beginner’s primary attributes.
  • Starting at Lv 11: You distribute AP manually through the Stats interface.
  • First advancement at Lv 10: Each of the four branches receives a small, one-time AP award when leaving Beginner. The bonus amount is not specified.

This makes planning ahead worthwhile: decide on your build before manual allocation begins.

Watch for Equipment Requirement Chains

Many items require a minimum attribute value. Stat-boosting gear can help you reach that threshold, but it can also make other equipment dependent on it.

If removing one piece leaves you short of another item’s requirement, the affected item stays equipped but stops supplying its bonuses. Losing those bonuses can push additional equipment below its requirements, creating a chain reaction.

Check your remaining attributes before replacing anything that helps support your loadout.

Can You Change Spent AP?

Allocated points cannot be freely redistributed.

AP reset consumables transfer 1 AP between attributes. They are generally associated with cash-shop purchases or event rewards, and daily usage is limited.

Some lengthy story questlines have historically offered a single reset upon completion. Treat those as occasional opportunities rather than something to build your progression around.

Because reset access is scarce, plan as though your allocation will be permanent.

Quick Tips

  • Choose your job path before manual allocation unlocks at Lv 11.
  • Plan around 5 AP from each standard level-up.
  • Meet necessary accuracy and equipment thresholds without blindly overinvesting in supporting attributes.
  • Recheck equipment dependencies whenever you remove stat-granting gear.
  • Use a job-specific plan for approximately the first 30 levels.
  • Keep reset availability and pre-launch uncertainty in mind before committing to an unusual build.
