MapleStory Classic Warrior gear guide

Updated October 21, 2026

Warrior gearing in MapleStory Classic World is easiest to plan around Perion purchases through level 30, then monster loot and crafting as you approach level 40. This guide covers weapon choices, armor upgrades, equipment requirements, and where to spend—or save—your mesos after the first job advancement.

Your Equipment Plan at a Glance

Scope: Levels 10–40, for characters who have completed the Warrior advancement. The equipment details below reflect pre-launch information; all listed prices are shop costs in mesos.

StageRecommended approach
Before level 10Keep your mesos and use equipment found on Maple Island.
Levels 10–20Visit Perion for affordable weapons and armor; check quest rewards before purchasing shields.
Levels 20–30Continue shopping for available upgrades while adding crafted gloves and footwear.
Levels 35–40Look for specific monster drops and use Smithing or Weaponcrafting to replace shop gear.

In Perion, River handles weapons and shields, while Harry supplies armor. Their progression reaches level 30, with equipment tiers generally spaced five levels apart; higher-level replacements require other acquisition methods.

Armor colors can affect more than appearance. Harry’s red and brown options generally favor STR, while blue, green, and steel alternatives tend toward DEX. Paired variants cost the same, so choose whichever bonus helps meet your upcoming equipment requirements.

Table note: “Not specified” means an acquisition method is not established in the information available here. It does not mean the item is unobtainable.

Save Mesos Before Your First Perion Visit

There is little reason to buy equipment on Maple Island when early monsters can supply useful pieces:

MonsterEquipment to watch for
Red SnailWooden Sword, usable at level 10
Orange MushroomLong Sword; Bronze Koif

Keep those savings for your first mainland upgrades. A found Bronze Koif can also remove the need to buy that helmet immediately.

Pick a Weapon Family Before Buying Upgrades

Your eventual second-job branch helps narrow your purchases:

Planned branchRelevant weapon families
FighterSwords and axes
PageSwords and blunt weapons
SpearmanSpears and polearms

A one-handed weapon allows a shield; a two-handed choice gives up that slot for a damage-oriented setup. Compare the individual attack values and requirements rather than assuming every new level tier is automatically the right purchase.

The weapon tables use 1H for one-handed and 2H for two-handed. Stat requirements are shown separately from the minimum level.

Sword Upgrades

LevelWeaponGripW.ATKRequired statsAcquisition

35Cutlus1H+55STR 70; DEX 30Not specified
35Lionheart2H+52STR 75; DEX 35Not specified

For shop purchases, the one-handed route runs from Sabre to Viking Sword to Eloon. The listed two-handed purchases begin with Two-Handed Sword, followed by Broadsword.

Do not overlook the level 35 comparison: Cutlus has W.ATK +55, while Lionheart has W.ATK +52. Grip alone does not determine the higher listed attack value.

Axe Upgrades

LevelWeaponGripW.ATKRequired statsAcquisition

35Niam2H+55STR 75; DEX 35Craft with Weaponcrafting 7
40Sabretooth2H+60STR 85; DEX 40Craft with Weaponcrafting 8

The late two-handed axe route has clear crafting targets: Niam at level 35, then Sabretooth at level 40. At level 30, Fireman's Axe matches Blue Axe’s listed attack while requiring less STR and DEX.

Blunt-Weapon Upgrades

LevelWeaponGripW.ATKRequired statsAcquisition
15Heavy Mace2H+37STR 35; DEX 15Buy from River: 16,500
20Square Hammer2H+42STR 45; DEX 20Buy from River: 13,500

35Sledgehammer2H+57STR 75; DEX 35Craft with Weaponcrafting 7
40Titan2H+62STR 85; DEX 40Craft with Weaponcrafting 8

Fusion Mace is notable for requiring STR 40 with no listed DEX requirement. It also permits shield use, although its W.ATK +41 is below Square Hammer’s W.ATK +42.

Check prices carefully here: the level 15 Heavy Mace costs 16,500, whereas the level 20 Square Hammer costs 13,500.

Spear and Polearm Upgrades

35Axe Pole ArmPolearm+57STR 75; DEX 35Craft with Weaponcrafting 7
40Crescent PolearmPolearm+62STR 85; DEX 40Craft with Weaponcrafting 8

At level 15, Fork on a Stick offers the same listed attack and price as Iron Ball, but only asks for STR 25. The established late crafting route is Axe Pole Arm → Crescent Polearm.

There is no level 25 entry in this ladder, so do not build your budget around an assumed replacement at that level.

Perion Armor Purchases: Levels 10–15

Start with useful defensive pieces, then add gloves through Smithing. Shield purchases only matter if you are using a one-handed weapon.

Before paying for either early shield, check Fixing Blackbull's House. Both Wooden Buckler and Steel Shield are listed among its rewards.

For body equipment during these visits, look for:

  • Level 10 tier: Brown Lolico Armor (M), Brown Lolico Pants (M).
  • Level 15 tier: Steel Corporal (M), Steel Corporal Pants (M), Steel Fitted Mail (F).

Exact prices, bonuses, and requirements for those body pieces are not specified here. Compare their available color variants before buying.

Perion Armor Purchases: Levels 20–30

This stretch introduces more bonus stats and a greater reliance on crafted equipment. Footwear shifts toward Smithing starting at level 25.

Mithril War Boots offer a useful alternative to crafting: obtain them through Cutthroat Manny's Request if that reward fits your progression.

The body-equipment options associated with these shopping tiers are:

TierPieces to check

25Orihalcon Master Sergeant (M); Orihalcon Master Sergeant Kilt (M)
30Red Hwarang Shirt (M); Red Martial Arts Pants (M); Black Dragon Robe (M)

Their exact stats, requirements, and prices are not specified here. Use the STR-versus-DEX color choice to address your next weapon’s requirements rather than selecting solely by appearance.

Armor Beyond the Shops: Levels 35–40

Once you move beyond level 30 gear, plan around named drops and profession levels instead of another routine shopping trip.

For targeted armor hunting, prioritize these matches:

  • Curse Eye: Great Brown Helmet and Battle Shield.
  • Fire Boar: Blood Fitted Mail.
  • Jr. Wraith: Yellow Jangoon Armor.

Curse Eye is especially relevant to shield users because it can supply two level 35 equipment slots.

Crafting Milestones Worth Planning Around

Smithing supports armor progression well before shop inventories run out. It covers Warrior gloves throughout the ladder, footwear beginning at level 25, stronger helmet variants at each tier, and level 40 armor options.

Mithril and Gold helmet variants offer better stats than Harry’s Bronze alternatives, making crafted headgear worth considering even during the shopping stages.

Profession levelSmithing targets listed in this guideWeaponcrafting targets listed in this guide

6Emerald Battle Grieves; Steel Missel—
7Steel Trigger; Steel BriggonNiam; Sledgehammer; Axe Pole Arm
8Gold Nordic Helm; Maroon Jangoon Shoes; Iron Knuckle; Adamantium Tower ShieldSabretooth; Titan; Crescent Polearm

Weaponcrafting becomes a major route for weapons around levels 35–40. The table identifies specific established targets, not every item the profession can produce.

Keep profession requirements separate from equip requirements. For example, Sabretooth needs Weaponcrafting 8 to craft, but equipping it requires level 40, STR 85, and DEX 40.

Level 40 Items Without Confirmed Acquisition Routes

The following level 40 weapons are documented, but their acquisition methods remain unconfirmed in the pre-launch information:

  • Traus
  • Zard
  • Blue Counter
  • Jacker
  • Zeco

The same uncertainty applies to the level 40 Jangoon bottoms. Treat these as possible future replacements rather than guaranteed purchases, drops, or crafts when planning your gear budget.

Quick Tips

  • Save your Maple Island mesos; early monster loot can cover your first equipment needs.
  • Check both STR and DEX before paying for a new weapon.
  • Match armor color bonuses to the stat your next upgrade requires.
  • Skip shield spending when using a two-handed weapon.
  • Check Fixing Blackbull's House for early shields and Cutthroat Manny's Request for Mithril War Boots.
  • Plan Smithing alongside leveling: gloves need it early, and footwear increasingly relies on it from level 25.
  • For late armor drops, target Curse Eye, Fire Boar, and Jr. Wraith according to the slot you need.
  • Do not assume an unspecified acquisition method means an item is sold in Perion.
