MapleStory Classic Warrior guide

Updated October 21, 2026

Warrior is an approachable first character in MapleStory Classic World, with no funding needed to get started. This guide covers early stat choices, the level 10 advancement, first-job skills, useful equipment drops, and your permanent specialization at level 30.

Before You Start

DetailWhat to expect
DifficultyEasy
Starting requirementsNone
Main statSTR
Secondary equipment requirementDEX
Information statusPre-launch; skill-point priorities remain untested

STR is your primary stat, but ignoring DEX can prevent you from equipping later weapons. Check the requirements of your next upgrade before committing your stat points.

Two examples show why DEX matters:

WeaponEquipment levelSTR requiredDEX required
Battle Axe153010
Cutlus357030

These requirements are equipment checkpoints, not a tested stat-allocation formula.

Levels 1–10: Prepare on Maple Island

You begin as a Beginner on Maple Island. Focus on reaching level 10; your Warrior advancement comes afterward.

If a Red Snail drops a Wooden Sword, save it. Warriors can equip it at level 10, making it a useful early weapon to have ready.

Once you reach level 10:

  1. Take the ship to Victoria Island.
  2. Travel to Perion in the northern mountains.
  3. Speak with Dances with Balrog to become a Warrior.

There is no advancement quest at this stage.

First-Job Skills and Unlocks

Your first-job toolkit contains six skills. Two groups have prerequisite chains, while Precise Strikes is available without an unlock requirement.

SkillMaximum levelPrerequisiteEffect
Power Strike20NoneUses MP for a powerful attack against one enemy
Slash Blast20Power Strike: 1 pointConsumes HP and MP to hit as many as four nearby enemies
Improved HP Recovery15NoneImproves HP regeneration and recovery provided by items
Max HP Increase15Improved HP Recovery: 3 pointsBecomes available through the recovery skill chain
Iron Body20Max HP Increase: 3 pointsTemporarily increases weapon defense
Precise Strikes15NonePassively increases Accuracy and Critical Rate

Match Your Skills to the Fight

Power Strike handles individual enemies, while Slash Blast gives you an option for clustered monsters. Its HP cost matters: using it repeatedly spends both health and mana.

The defensive chain requires 3 points in Improved HP Recovery, followed by 3 points in Max HP Increase, before Iron Body becomes available. Precise Strikes sits outside those chains, so you do not need to unlock another skill first.

There is no established, tested point-by-point build in the pre-launch information. Treat these prerequisites as planning tools rather than proof of an optimal leveling order.

Equipment Drops Worth Watching

Warriors have access to swords, axes, blunt weapons, spears, and polearms. For an unfunded character, useful drops can come from the same monsters you hunt for experience.

Horny Mushrooms are particularly useful to keep in mind because their drops span several equipment levels. Some finds may be upgrades immediately; others, such as Cutlus, are worth storing until you meet their level and stat requirements.

Where to Train

Warriors can use the usual leveling areas without needing a separate class-specific route. Your main consideration is whether monsters gather closely enough for Slash Blast to hit several at once.

AreaReason to consider it
Maple IslandYour starting hunting grounds through level 10
Kerning City subwayBubblings offer a chance at a Battle Axe
Ant TunnelHorny Mushrooms provide several useful equipment drops
Ant Tunnel IIICrowded mushroom platforms suit Slash Blast
Perion surroundingsDark Axe Stumps can drop a Machete
Burnt LandFire Boars offer level 30 equipment
Warrior's Rocky MountainDedicated Warrior area containing level 30 Fire Boars and Lupins

These locations are hunting options, not a verified level-by-level progression. In particular, Warrior's Rocky Mountain contains level 30 versions of its Fire Boars and Lupins, so do not assume they match versions encountered elsewhere.

Level 30: Choose Your Second Job

Return to Perion at level 30 to select your specialization. The decision is permanent, so consider which weapon families you want to use.

SpecializationWeapon focus
FighterSwords and axes
PageSwords and blunt weapons
SpearmanSpears and polearms

All three branches continue to prioritize STR. Your early investment in the class's main stat therefore remains useful regardless of your choice.

The level 35 weapons listed above provide a few equipment targets beyond this milestone, but the pre-launch details do not establish a complete second-job build or a training route through level 70.

Quick Tips

  • Save a Wooden Sword dropped by a Red Snail for level 10.
  • Advance in Perion by speaking to Dances with Balrog; no quest is required.
  • Check weapon requirements before spending stats—STR alone will not cover every upgrade.
  • Put 1 point into Power Strike to make Slash Blast available.
  • Account for both HP and MP consumption when using Slash Blast.
  • Watch Horny Mushroom drops for equipment you can use now or later.
  • Treat skill-point orders as provisional until tested builds are available.
  • Choose your level 30 branch carefully; the specialization cannot be reversed.
